...end.
Put a smear of Sikaflex 221 under the top 'clamp' and behind the lower flange. This stops shifting and creaking, and prevents wateringress via bolt holes.
I'll let the Sika cure for 48hrs then mount the spare. Mine is on 18s and the spare is still a 16, so when I get back from next...
...too.
You can remove the unit and remove the blue microswitch from the rear and probably see like mine that there is corrosion from wateringress.
I've just removed mine but not yet ordered a replacement as everything on ebay looks like copy chinese stuff.
the blue microswitch is the same...
This is a very good and thoughtful query. If they are attached via the standard roof holes there is a risk of wateringress, as with anything bolted on there. Did you see prior to fitting if the foot sections of the roof bar kit have a rubber gasket or pad that snugly and completely covers the...
Evening All,
So I was driving my van back from getting the sliding door module replaced following wateringress from a leaky rear quarter window. Stopped at a petrol station, filled up with diesel and
went to restart the van and the following error code came up. Couldn't start the van, called...
...connectors in question and apply a little bit of grease to electrical contacts on the "socket" side and replug it together.
Any future wateringress will not cause contact corrosion and chances of disturbing electrical continuity are going to be seriously minimised.
Please post adaptation...
The tank has to be vented at the highest point. This to allow the air out when filling and to allow air in when consuming water.
I have two vents in case I’m parked on a hill, 4mm bore is plenty, stick a cheap, generic disposable fuel filter on the end of the vent tubes to prevent ingress of...
The sliding door rail and the sliding door rail cover panel are both prime locations for rainwater ingress. With the rail, the rain water gets behind the foam gasket for the rail end then seeps past the bolt and into your van.
With the sliding door rail cover panel, the fastening clips which...
...collecting there. Now I am parking the other way and no water can collect. Rather bad design to be honest and wonder will there be a wateringress when going on a wet road, but as you have also noticed there is no bottom rubber seal on doors anyway.
Drove an MOD Ford crew cab last weekend...
Hi, I took mine to VW and they did a ‘wateringress test’ (put it under a hose for a few hours) and confirmed there was a leak. They’ve said it’s a door seal that’s the problem and they’re ordering me a new seal in. Once it’s fitted and it rains again I’ll report back as to whether this is the...
Not sure which roofs have a vinyl canvas, but the Hilo has a high quality, marine-grade canvas. Not sure if that's the same as water-proofed. but never had any wateringress.
My bad for not reading thread the entire thread.
If by fitting them you caused the wateringress that resulted in the short then yes. It's not a matter of avoiding the warranty, the warranty doesn't cover damage you caused even if unwittingly. It's insurance against manufacturing faults not accidental damage.
If you've gone back to stock then...
...every time I put the van in reverse I get no signal I'm starting to loose my mind as my camera worked fine for two years prior this event with occasional camera swap out due to wateringress I also have just tried a power relay and still no luck and the headunit is new also.
Any help...
I am sure I have see this discussion before here on the forum. If I remember correctly wateringress on the slider is quite common. Coming in from the rear latch area. Or from the leaky window, water dripping through the slider panel to the bottom resulting in damp in the area you have...
You might also want to have a read through this thread as mounting rails can lead to wateringress - not everyone's mounting kit works well but there are a few ways of improving things:

...clips. Just hold the plug, twist it about an eighth of a turn anti-clockwise and pull it out. Unplug the wire connection from the old bulb and connect it to the new one.
Top tip. Put a smear of vaseline on the rubber seal to prevent wateringress which will lead to condensation inside the...
...end purge the circular drain holes until they are clear.
Then, carefully replace the sliding window.
If you park the van nose down any wateringress will allow the drain holes to do their job. Nose up defies physics as water doesn't travel uphill.
It also helps if you never open the...
