Having a sort out prior to having our house renovated so need some space.
The suspension was replaced at 50k miles. Rear shocks are corroded on outer tubes but are fine mechanically. Fronts fine. Springs included with both.
H4 Headlights were replaced around the same time. Fitted with LED...
Hi,
Read lots of threads here on headlights and bulbs but not sure my question has been answered - or if it has I’m confused and don’t want to make a mistake.
So have decided it’s time to get rid of the H4’s before I end up in a ditch ;)
They currently have H4 Philips Racing Vision 200+ (but...
If you're going to be changing headlights I'd highly recommend looking at the newer full led options, as above the H4 headlights are terrible. You might regret just upgrading for led DRLs and end up upgrading again to full led lights.
Keep an eye on this thread for full led headlights...
If you can't decide and it really is 50:50, maybe it should come down to something as silly as the headlights.
If the non-LED van has H4, go with the LED van unless the LED lights aren't self-levelling, then go with the other one, unless the other one has H4 and so it goes...
Or just wait for...
Full set of H4 headlights, barn door tail lights and side indicators. All standard halogen.
Currently boxed up but will get some pictures if required. Decent condition, only selling as swapped them all for LEDs.
£70 collection Bury, Manchester
As title, 2018 Highline Kombi
Fitted towbar (factory preparation /PF Jones short loom)
Also I’ve fitted my Philips LEDH4 bulbs from my T5 which trigger an error.
I have Carista, and have enrolled on the Beta scheme but have no experience with its capabilities.
I suspect that I’ll need...
T6 incandescent headlamps are rubbish, both H4 and H7.
If you like OEM go for OEM LED retrofit(expensive).
If you want amazing results, superb beam pattern and low cost then retrofit aftermarket LED projectors in your existing headlamps.
I’ve gone from H4 to H7 and the non OEM projector LEDs. H4 to H7 is a good upgrade especially with Osram +200% Nightbreakers. But there’s an even bigger improvement with LED over H7 let alone over H4. My non OEM LEDs are as good as my old Passat GTE Advance LEDs to give some comparison.
I recently purchased full LED headlight units to replace the factory headlights, which originally had H4 bulbs. These new headlights are advertised as plug-and-play, but the seller mentioned that programming might be necessary for the high beam if the factory units used H4 bulbs. To avoid any...
I can see there's a bit of a difference in cost here but why do people go for these rather than just opting for full led ?
With our t5.1 I swapped out our commercial H4 lights for the caravelle versions to improve them but they still ain't great if I'm honest even with upgraded bulbs .
I find them adequate with uprated bulbs.
I can't justify the extra cost of LEDs. Not even the new THQ ones.
But then, I've never driven a car with LEDs so maybe I don't know what I'm missing.
I am happy with H7.
Used to have H4 on my old van - yes, very dangerous. Can't believe that they are still allowed!
H7 is luxury.
Not as bright as LED but don't need 2 mini suns to see where we're going if driving reasonably.
Bonjour
Pondering the question as per the title really.
I have some Vanstyle LED DRL headlights - I think they call them V4, but they are to all intents and purposes identical looking to the THQ V3 and others.
Like lots of people, I've put LED bulbs into the dipped and main beam - I'm using...
Don't make me wheel out my H4 headlights with led bulbs video again... what's that... somebody hasn't seen it?
Give me a few minutes it's in here somewhere...
That is true, but led headlamps have proper led drivers fitted to them, and the lamp body usually has led stamped on it.
Normal headlamps will normally have h4/h7 stamped on them too.
Then you have the levelling device. Most cars with LEDs will have a level sensor on the suspension and not...
Welcome and nice van. Have you H4 headlights? If so their poor quality is well-documented and many choose to upgrade them to H7 or LED. I went to LED and couldn't even give away the H4's! Have a look here:

I posted view of a car-magazine review on normal incandescent bulbs but the where not H4 but H7 and H1 not the same but a guide that may still be applied. On another vehicle I recently fitted Halford's...
