The clip now just clips over the trim (it is a fairly stiff interference fit) and the rubber piece wraps over the front end of the deflector snd seats down in the clip (with a little bit of help from silicone spray).
Just the outside, I change it too often to go to those lengths. I would say it’s possibly cheaper to get corrected but I suppose that depends how much correction. It then again so many nice colours go with pearl black.

I had the same recently and had to remove the cloth tape also, must be a factory thing.
I used a cheap Halfords connector with some encouragement from a lighter. Bit of a cowboy fix to be honest but I wrapped the repair in new tape and it’s held for a quite a while now
It's nothing special, just the standard thin fibre board they use, and I covered it. There could be a little fluff damage where I removed the plastic thingys.
If you can make good use of it I can wrap it and send it then let you know the postage.

Agreed, the standard colour is much more appealing generally, opens the market up to everyone. For example, you can’t imagine anyone using it as an executive taxi in white/orange
