I've got/had a similar setup, now upgraded to the following ...
Kept:
EC155 Sargent for DC distribution (essentially it's now a glorified bus bar and switches)
2 x 100W Solar Panels
Removed the Sargent capability to charge the leisure battery (removed the fuse and as a double check ensure...
Will your system not simply charge the battery whilst driving then keep a float charge when on hook up. if Your battery arrives on site with say 50% charge then the Sargent will simply supply the 12 v system and not effect the battery. I have a similar set up in my van and want to fit lithium...
If it was me I’d get rid of the Sargent and start again. All the faff of trying to disable the dc-dc charger and the 240v charger etc would just drive me daft.
Surely it’s easier to get a 12v fuse panel and a pre made switch panel and rewire your current 12v stuff to it.
240v hookup cable and...
Hi all - update.
Installed the CTEK250SE and the alarming issue I was experiencing has stopped, but now I seem to have another issue. At random times the Sargent is making 2 audible beeps and then powering off. When on EHU it doesn't do this. I have attached the details from the Victron MPPT...
Yes you can add a seperate mains charger.
The Victron IP65 or IP22 blue smart chargers are popular....
The Sargent is just a basic power supply..and won't charge a lithium properly.

.
Not to far! I wanted to obviously check about the charging of the Lithium battery. Definitely seems I need to ignore the current fitted Sargent EC160 so will follow advise/help as I’m no sparky lol.
I’m planning on travelling Europe for the month of May this year so wanted to be able to be off...
Thanks for the reply.
I’ve got plenty room below my microwave where my LB is for an MPPT or in the cupboard at the back where the Sargent and existing solar controller is.
That victron 360w panel looks great. Much cheaper too.
I did wonder if the ecoflow was 2 x 200w panels.
I’m going to...
Been in my possession from new and only selling to finance new Crafter conversion. Low mileage high spec Kombi 4Motion with camper conversion done by New Wave Custom Conversions. Full and complete service history (last service Jan 25), MOT passed Jan 25.
Vehicle spec:
VW Transporter T6 (T32)...
If adding the Renogy lifepo4 battery you will need to add a mains smart charger.
The Sargent is just a dumb power supply so won't charge the battery properly.
Have a look here at the lithium, monitoring and charge sections...
Great ordered on Amazon.
Thanks for all the help as always. Do you know what I need to do connection wise with the Sargent?
(Inverter now fitted and working so thanks for the advice with that too).
As my old technical drawing teacher would say, 'Rub it out, do it again'. Flash, listen to your uncle Si! Just sell a couple of your special rods and you'll have the money!
Hi.
I’m wanting to upgrade my battery or at least I’m interested in upgrading it to a Lithium LIFEPO4 if it’s not too much faf
My current setup;
2021 t6.1 150dsg
Sealed 90ah lead acid battery under the front captain seat
- Sterling B2B battery charger. model: bb1230
- Victron SmartSolar...
Hopefully I'll remember this correctly but yes to a B2B charger to charge the leisure battery from the vans alternator.
Ditch the Sargent unit 12 volt charger which is a case of pulling the fuse and disconnecting the existing feed from the EC160 to the leisure battery, in my case with Redlines...
Evening folks,
Typical me, wanting to tinker and upgrade a perfectly good campervan already....having done a decent amount of research and looking at what the latest models of kit are, I'd be very grateful if somebody (@Dellmassive ?) could give me a quick sense-check please, before I go and...
I have lithium/solar (basic) combination & and mostly off grid but usually only for 2-3 nights max at a time, never run out of power, and that’s in low light Scotland. The only downside to lithium is that apparently you’re not supposed to charge them below zero which is an issue for me as van...
Similar yes maybe a slightly older version of it. Doesn’t have the red part.
The Sargent unit has an EC50 control panel. Not sure what else it includes.
Do you think going for an AGM battery would be better then instead of a Lithium one?
Are you sure? You did say in another thread that this sort of charger wasn’t good for standard leisure batteries so is it really ok to have this constant trickle charge to a lithium battery?
Thanks.
Don’t worry I will be nipping your head on exactly what I need to buy before I buy anything :D :p
Could see me biting the bullet and splashing out on 2 lithium batteries with low temp protection and changing the charger to B2B, keeping my Sargent, disabling the EHU on it and fitting...
@spenny_b
yay, im back . . . they gave us a T-Rock to play with will the van is in,
so . . . . .
swapping out the AGM for a lithium is a no brainer,
stick with a known brand, and try to get as bigger unit as possible,
