    Buying without a service history

Hi David Yes it’s their All-in plan. Your ‘although not perfect’ implies you’ve used it or got it, what’s your experience? Depending on whether specialist tools were needed I’d planned on servicing myself but as you say it offers some peace of mind, but then it’s only 3 years old so should...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Didn't know that was possible. I'd rather have my MOT's done independently as well. Need to look into the "All In Plan" now that the Bus is out of warranty... Wonder when Vw will be offering a discount , last Nov it was -25%. Sadly, back to full price now.

    RIB Altair seat too high

I have been planning my van for while & had convinced myself that I wanted to rib glide bed. Looks great. So I tried one yesterday. I'm 6'2 & in all of the seats my head (with pop top down) was pressed against the roof / I couldn't sit properly. This is a problem as I have teenage sons who are...

    VW All-in plan

My warranty etc ran out on 15th November, so did my son’s. No notification from VW whatsoever. I called them today and I have the service part of the All-In plan running until Nov 2025. I asked how much another would be and she didn’t know ! No offers to find out either. And then - I can’t...

    Isle of Man TT 2024

Yes! No firm plans currently, we are in the process of selling our house and moving. Once that’s all done and the kind prospective buyers have given us the asking price! We will be planning trips. Are you a regular to the TT?

EGR flush apparently "not covered" by VW extended warranty?

I had mine done twice for free. First time (approx 1 year old) while still under the 3-year warranty. Second time, just over 3 years old but had the All-in-one plan; however VWCV Manchester said it wasn't done under the plan, but under goodwill. So I would push the dealer, if not phone VW UK...

    Hudson's Autohaus T6.1 Build

Stage 5 - The bed So the plan for this was to build a pull out double bed, which would be a sofa in the daytime and double bed when needed just to maximise space in the van. I also wanted to try and create as much storage as possible under the bed as well as an electrical cabinet to store all...

Renogy 12V 40A DC to DC or Victron Energy Orion XS 12 12 50A DC-DC

Hi All, Currently trying to take advantage of some Black Friday deals and get my leisure battery system set up... My question is - Is the Victron unit worth the extra cash over the Renogy? Renogy w/bluetooth adaptor £139.99 Victron Orion XS around £250-£270 dependant on deals available. My...

    Consumer unit advice

Hi all, first post having bought a van for conversion. I’m after advice/recommendations for consumer unit for self build hook up. Plan is to fit the socket itself under the bonnet and then the CU under the double passenger seat (no plans for a captain or swivel base). Will only be one feed in...

Warranty oil leak claim refused under extended

Oil leaks are not covered under the ALL-IN plan. But are covered under the Factory Extended warranty. As you mentioned MOT well assum you have the ALL-IN cover. Crankshaft main seal is a common item to need addressing. (Had mine done at 60k under factory warranty) Have they quoted you for it...

    Rear tailgate door drains plugged.

Condensation is definitely a contributor, especially while you are "living" in the van as humans generate a lot of moisture. If insulating it's worth relying on the old adage "assume water will get in and give it a way out" - warm damp air will find the tiniest gaps to get to a cold surface but...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Busy day putting my van back together after the MOT and Major service on Friday. Passed with no advisories, all done under the All-in plan. Van is 5 years old in a couple of weeks so gave it a pre-birthday wash and polish as the sun went in this afternoon. Still pondering new wheels

    T6.1 21 Plate Service Due?

Hi all, just a bit confused about servicing. I have a Nov 21 plat T6.1, with 27000 on the clock. I had a service done when I bought the van in summer 2022. It has come up on the dash that an Oil Service is due. I phoned my local VW Van Centre and the lady said "it isnt due an oil service, its...

How.... how do you afford a van?

I drove down the M4 to pick up my van and on the way back saw a 50mph limit for "air quality reasons". About 2 miles later you see Port Talbot steelworks pumping out all sorts of fumes. That's when you realise this is more about some people being anti-car.

VW All in plan .. again

You won’t be eligible for the all in plan which includes roadside assistance as your van is over 6yrs old.

Service Centre recommendation in the South West

...any other service centre as well. Judging by reports from others on here, I also suspect that there are worse out there. Having said that, my All In Plan expires after the next service and I'll be going to a local specialist for any work after that. Sorry, I know that's probably not much...

    Leisure battery recommendations

I like the use of the aluminium sheet used to mount the flexy PV panel on the roof in the Califaktur kit. It seems an elegant solution in terms of ease of mounting and dispersing heat.
