I'm looking to install an EHU hookup point under the bonnet next to the starter battery, very similar to @Deaky solution earlier in this thread.
My plan would be to also install a 3 pin hookup plug and ip67 rated consumer unit under the bonnet, then run a single cable through the existing...
Yeah looks like you have a factory fitted aux battery with some extra looms the same as mine. I just removed all of the extra RAC stuff including the stuff that goes forwards and will install my leisure stuff completely separate, and leave all that alone. Whilst you’ve got it like that might be...
Yes, use a Chassis NEG underseat.
Either seat bolt, or dedicated ground stud under carpet.
Getting between the seats was easy, I used a rod to push between the seat bases, the pulled the cable through. On my van I used 20mm flexible plastic conduit to protect the cableunder the carpet..
I...
Auto electrician has been. Hoping it would be a quick fix, but everything under the passengerseat seems ok. It's going to have to go to his unit so he has power etc, furhter investigation not do-able in minus 3 on the main road.
However, whatever has been disturbed/shorted causes all the...
I have a similar pop top with solar. My cable runs through a small hole at the front of the roof (sealed of course) then to the left hand B pillar, down inside the B pillar trim (where the passengerseat belt is) and pops out the bottom and then into my controller and battery. My battery is...
Right the final bits turned up today, I need to get the seat off and have a proper measure up. But if I have to route the cables to the battery from under the passengerseat that should be OK.
So this is how I think it should be connected.
It's the order I would like to confirm...
I was going...
Hi thanks for responding. The seats are OEM from a German caravelle and our van is also German. In these photos you can see the control on the dash, and all of the cables and connections available under the passengerseat.
That chunky red cable in the second photo looks like the factory fit aux battery cable that is fed from the e-box.
In my T6 I used mine to feed my Ring RSDC50 without issue. It was fused at SA8 with a 50a midi and only fed the dash cigarette lighter sockets.
However, yours may feed some...
I suggest you try this for a bit to see if it works for you.
Longer term you can get replacement rear panels that attach with magnets/screws in furniture ply that you can mount sockets and panels on...
Can anybody recommend the best and/or easiest cable route to run from this fuse panel to under the passengerseat? I assume seats and floor will need removing?
Thanks! I didn't even know about the one under my seat! Thinking about retrofitting some heated seats from this now haha.
I've attached what's under my seat
And assuming this is what I'd need: link
What would be the neatest way to tap/splice into this? - Also potentially a stupid question, but...
I’m pretty sure there isn’t. It’s under the driver’s seat.
The fault re-occurred a couple of weeks ago while I was re-fitting the lower centre dash panel (the one that covers the fuse panel and goes over the gear lever) from the passenger side whilst kneeling and leaning on the floor mat in...
Ok double you turn...
Had a look at the alternative options.
Had a look at the combi units, ie inverter chargers.
Decided we don't need and 240v EHU in 96% of the time.
So decided to go with the inverter only option.
But 3kw ISH to convert the requirements.
And one that could be N-PE...
So I finally got the time to add the MPPT.
Thanks to everyone that helped answer my questions. I didn't have enough room under the drivers seat so had rlto route the battery cables to the passenger base which was surprisingly easy.
Bit tight for space
Cables pulled though without a snag...
Evening all, In our new van there is a fused biggish cable from the starter battery that feeds a power amp under the passengerseat . I’m thinking would it be possible to feed the power amp then carry it on to the charger / leisure battery.
I’m just thinking of room, because I will also need to...
I had an issue with my oem towing socket when the off side position and stop lights stopped working. The nearest V W dealer did the diagnostics and said everything in the van was working. I subsequently removed the passengerseat and swivel and found that one of the fuses in the carrier pictured...
Wow, thanks for quick reply and info, that’s pretty fat cable, but I understand the reasons so it makes sense. It’s not got far to go to the passengerseat and hopefully I can get my 1000w inverter in there.
I assume not to much of an issue getting the cables under the carpet between the seats...
