The public have fallen hook, line and sinker for technology, which is a dream come true for manufacturers, "you want wind assist sir? that's only an extra £8/month, you'll barely notice it."
Yeah, until it goes wrong.
...factory headunit holds several vehicle menus that i doubt will be accessible on that new unit and also removing the factory stereo will break the SOS unit also
If you are seriously considering i would be looking into what factory functions it will keep like rear camera/parking display/menus etc
There are two connectors behind the plastic cover below the mirror around there. When I had these unplugged to get behind the headliner, the SOS call warning was on. You could check that they are firmly plugged in and clicked home on yours.
The plastic cover comes off in two parts (T6.1). I...
Speaking of the devil, yesterday I received an email that the SOS retation kit is going to be sent soon. I waited from October to receive it....
So what do I need to retain the usb-c?
...there is a little bit more wind noise but the roof shuts perfectly now and the cables are tucked under the roof. Still seems to connect the sos ok as that stays green.
Credit where it’s due Jordan got me straight in and van back next day without issue. Such an irritating issue finally resolved!
Unbelievably after months of it working flawlessly, one of the major problem is back of slow boot (bearing in mind the 5F, SOS etc were all replaced). 5-10 mins, as this is only associated with one of the many issues I had I'll start a new thread.
Hi my t6 has the same sos falt and is just out of warrantee. They wanted £2500 to fix something that i have never used. Heater vent was stuck only pumping out hot air. Had pay £700 to get that fixed. Thing thing is falling apart.
Sadly, no don’t have a fault logger. But it’s booked in with VW, so they’ll be getting a list of issues to work through and diagnose.
It’s been trouble free since new, and sods law, just as we are approaching 3 years (end of March) this has started. Seems strange that they all occur at once -...
...everything was back to how it was, might not be a permanent fix but I’ve just done 170 miles trouble free.
Here’s how, keep your finger on the sos button until it actually makes a call, this can actually take up to a minute but mine took about 40 seconds. It then asks if you want to cancel...
If it's under warranty then VW assist is pan European and might be able to help?
Of course if the SOS system is down the obvious way of getting in touch with them is likely not going to work...
...and they filled the van with swarf cutting the hole. There was swarf in some of the connectors so the rear view camera didn’t work. It wouldn’t surprise me if they got swarf in some of your cab roof cabling.
I don’t have any radio issues, but I think that fin is the SOS; DAB is in the wing...
Hey I have the same problem. Pop top was done summer of 2022, had an intermittent fault for the last year or so & now every time you start the van it’s a fault. VW won’t touch as diagnostics said it’s the aerial not connected fault. I’m tempted to get a new aerial & plug in at the connectors at...
Out of nowhere we got this error this evening.
It’s a 2023 T6.1 that’s covered 6000 miles.
I’m assuming it’s just we won’t be able to make an SOS call with this error. Is that the case?
Just trying to gauge the importance of the error as getting to VW during the week is difficult and I guess...
There is an interface you can get now that solves the SOS issue when fitting an aftermarket head unit:
https://connects2.com/Product/ProductItem/CT51-VW01
...an extra twist!
Van was bought new (it’s a 6.1) and converted to a camper in early 21. No issues at all until the back end of last year when the SOS fault started to appear intermittently. Always resets when ignition restarted, and given the history on here, it didn’t bother me greatly...
