1.9 pd cam belt kit replace CAUTION !

Spent the afternoon replacing the cam belt on the T5 1.9pd, cracking little engine BUT there are two types people should be aware of before using locking tools for the crank and cam, one has a round crank pully and the arrow on it that lines up with the tool is on a raised tooth corresponding with an arrow on the groove on tool, if you have the other type the arrow on crank pulley is lined up with a groove that corresponds with a different locking tool that has an arrow on the tooth, this is an oval pulley, not easy to see the difference but you will know when you try and start it after using the wrong tool, its 18 degrees out. The job is relatively easy with lots of Utube vids but if you have Ross tech you can fine tune advance and retard, giving smoother running and easier starting by undoing three bolts on cam pully which allows you to adjust cam whilst watching torsion value on computer, target is 0 to 3 which is sweet, definitely avoid minus figures or retarded. Just for the record there are also two options for cam sensor on the round or oval crank so make sure to order one with chassis number and go OE, the van will run with both but if its wrong it will be slower to start and run lumpy.
