there’s so much you can do and being on this forum doesn’t help!!!
Always getting new ideas

Morning All,

Firstly, I appreciate that there are hundreds (if not thousands!) of threads concerning tyre sizes so apologies for another, however I have for the past week been sifting through the threads but can’t find the answer… perhaps because there is no simple answer?

I have a set of RR 20” wheels (I believe they are called Vogue?
) which have tyres on at the moment which are far too big for my van. I have bought the bolt kits, spigots and 10mm spacers in readiness but I can’t find what size tyres would work best from both practical and cost perspective.

275/40/20 seems to be a common answer but others are saying 265/30 or 265/35….

Is anyone able to recommend which size tyres I should be buying please?

Many thanks in advance!

If they are the Vogue then I think they are 8.5J width with a ET58 offset?? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
What load rating do you need? T28/T30 or T32?

Thank you for the quick reply… T28 please.

From what little I know, and trying to answer some of your points in your first post...

1. A 275 tyre its generally considered too wide for an 8.5J wheel.
2. A 265 30 will not be suitably load rated for a T28. (I think you can get away with a 99 for the T28? might be best to check your axel weight plate under the bonnet)

I'm running a 255/40 on 20" 8.5J wheels, but my wheels don't need the spacers so can't really comment on that, time for a professional to step in.

Ah that would make sense… the tyres on the wheels at the moment are 255/55/20 maybe it’s just the profile I need to reduce and check load rating.
Thank you for your help!

Just landed a set of Range Rover wheels (in a real state) for a very tiny price as a little project.

They are 8.5Jx 20 ET58 as most are, obviously a lot of people run Range Rover wheels, my question is what size tyre do people run and what suspension height? With the current massive tyre on the look mad stood against the van.

I’m thinking of going 255/35 to retain the same (almost) diameter as my 16 inch stock wheels but open to advice on this also.

Will post pics of the wheel progress on my van thread.

Depends on your van - is it a T26, T28, T30 or T32?

275/35/20 is the official tyre fitted by VW but only upto and including T30.
265/40/20 is load rated for T32 so will work on all vans

You will also need spigot rings and different bolts for the wheels to fit the transporter

Thanks for the info! Was just about to ask about the wheel bolts! I assume all RR wheels are the same seat? Flat face inside the hole? The bore looks quite big……..obviously I forgot to measure the inner bore
