Thanks I will give the full ECU a reset after work, fingers crossed it will work. Alternatively will I need to take it to VW?

You need to read fault codes.

Its could be 100 different problems, you need direction.

Stored fault codes it the first thing to check.
 
Do you get a glimpse of "!" on the MFD when turning ignition on?
 
It's a dealer only procedure as it first requires a 4wheel alignment and then uses special alignment kit to do it.

Hunter wheel alignment machines now have the ability to re-calibrate the ACC along with the 4 wheel alignment. Not many workshops have these machines. If you do a google for "Hunter 4 wheel alignment near me" that should pop up a few. Do call up and check. I got mine done from the NCR Bodyshop in Newbury. They asked me if I wanted the ACC re-calibrated, to which I said no, as it was working fine.
