Air Con while camping.

My sister and brother in law have a Transcool chiller that they swear by but they’ve got money to burn. :rolleyes: I think it’s another one of those over priced units, Totalcool is another, that aren’t worth the expense. The Transcool, which is Australian is demonstrated in this video but he doesn’t sell it to me. He rambles on for seventeen minutes before he even switches it on. Then it’s like a jet taking off. Think I’ll give that one a miss cobber. :thumbsdown:

If you're using EHU you could just use a standard portable ac unit, it's the only effective way of reducing the temperature and humidity, they can also be used as just a dehumidifier and use at home, not the quietest things when the compressor kicks in but used to cool the van before bed and then just using the fan setting. Had a quick Google and this looks like a bargain to me;

Well to date we have used camper in temps of 43C daytime and nights around 26C. Spending most of time outside under tarp and using standard free standing fan + the fans I recommended above. At night the little fans are great moving air around. We have enough power to drive freestanding fan so don’t pay for EHU. Keep it simple works for us.

I have one of these at home which is useful but not exactly a proper air conditioning unit. Same principle as the little portable ones in my previous post but without the 12v option and much much cheaper.

We’ve got a wind out awning with side panels that we can hopefully use again at the next few sites. The last one wasn’t a great place to site outside of! Thanks for all the help everyone.
