Airbag Error After Fitting Dash Cam

Sorry to drag up an old post, but I have the same issue. Installed a dash cam, removed the airbag switch. Ignition on before refitting. Anyone in or around Cirencester / Cheltenham who could reset it please?

Turning on the ignition with the end panel removed will cause an airbag light, it won’t go out unless reset with software

I have just got that pesky airbag light.

I currently have the end panel removed but I plugged the switch back in before turning on the ignition.

Would this still trigger the airbag light or is it likely to be something else?

I have just piggybacked off the 15a fuse circled below, but I also don’t think this should have any effect on the airbag light according to @Loz diagram:

If the switch was plugged back in before you turned on the ignition then it must be something else. Which fuse did you piggyback?

If you dismantled anything up in the roof where the airbag on/off display light is connected then that will set a fault too. As the airbag system is a safety critical component auto manufacturers are required to monitor all connections, switches, displays, airbags and sensors and log faults should anything be detected.

The airbag switch in the door must also work with ignition off as you use the ignition key to switch it - the legal requirement is that the vehicle must be stationary when the passenger airbag is switched on and off. This has been ensured by hiding the switch behind the door - so you have to open the door to switch the airbag - and the switch uses the ignition key to ensure you don't have the engine running.

As already mentioned, use Carista to reset faults and all will be OK. I created Airbag errors fitting my solar and dashcam. All cleaned up with Carista.

Oh, like this for example?

I can't believe I missed that one, I was so careful with the end panel airbag switch. I'd better get myself a Carista.

Thanks for the help @Oceanis and @Deaky.
