@HotandCold you have got me really tempted to buy a set of 17" steel vw wheels and some hob caps. Does it look like a relatively straight forward job to get the chrome caps mated to the black plastic cap?
Will you need to cut the centre out of the black plastic cap, to allow the chrome cap to sit back far enough?
Do you have a TPS parts number for the beetle caps?
I love the fact you have retained the 17" wheel size, which imo is the best for a T6 wanting to maintain a high level of practicality , and offers the best/largest tyre choice.:thumbsup:

The idea is to trim off the outer part of the black centre cap so that it will locate inside the locating ring of the chrome cap then bond them together, this should keep the two parts concentric.
I do like steel wheels and high sidewalls, my last van (a T4) had steels with BFG all terrains.

The part number for the chrome caps is: 5C0601149DQZQ I paid £170 for the 4, which was only a fiver less than the 4 new T32 steel wheels! (from a local guy who is a truck tyre dealer and sells these as a sideline).

I completely agree, the polished caps dont suit it at all - just my opinion, dont mean to offend ;)
No offence taken at all! It's good to hear different opininons, I'm trying for a retro look on the van, similar to the Gen Six. If I'm not happy with the finished look of these wheels, I might go for a set of painted Devonports and keep these tyres.

Cant you make the small black middle section chrome? I love those wheels btw.

wait till next week!

Seikel HD lift going on...
Looking forward to seeing that. Then a World tour or something? Maybe the Atacama Desert or the Rocky Mountains?! Should be able to to anywhere once you're done.
So nice to see good money going on off road kit rather than "faux racing car" nonsense. :D

sealed the new wheels with C5 today then set about swapping them over.

As usual the Devonports were stuck on the hubs with corrosion so they needed cleaning up, then I found an old set of wheel centres that were the same size as the hub centre (55mm) so all cleaned up and some locktite anti slip added then the wheels fitted.

You done anything to the suspension? Sits a lot lower than my 4motion unless it's just the tyres filling the arches more

Its going into Coast VW next week to have the Seikel HD suspension fitted.
