Android Based Headunit - Any Good??

Hey all,

I'm looking at swapping out my T6 factory head unit and putting in an Android Auto unit preferably with wireless connection.

Looking at spending around £300 if anyones got any experience with these it would be appreciated as there aren't many reviews out there other than on the top end units.

Cheers

I bought a Pumpkin Stereo ND0378B unit for my T5.1, because I read on a blog they were good. The DAB+ addon cost another £45. All fitted well into the dash. It was Google 8.0 with 4Gb RAM. DAB+, FM, BT hands free and fascia mounted SDHC 64Gb memory slot and another slot for maps. On jouneys I used WAZE and could listen to my music. If I tried to use WAZE and DAB together it would lock the screen intermittently and I'd have to reboot. It had a PX5 chip in it and the blurb says PX6 units are faster and more robust.
2 years later the screen bottom 1/3rd of the screen started failing and now has a permanent colour patern showing like a test card. Now the rest of the screen is going the same way. Now I'm looking for a Kenwood or Panasonic model or anything rather than Chinese junk.

Giving some thought to this

But I do get the vibe the old words of by cheap by twice applies here!

Hello, I have already tried several devices, but I realized that on Aliexpress and similar sites everything is very bad with support after purchase

I was advised this site, and as it turned out, they are doing quite well, both with quality and with support. I can recommend them. And in case of problems, PayPal immediately returns the money.

Sounds like an advert.....

For $690+shipping+import fees I'm pretty sure you could get a pretty good head unit closer to home with android + apple compatibility.

Alternatively you can pick up Android head units on ebay from UK (not always the case) sellers for £150-£200 that would do everything the $690 one does.

I've seen a few of the cheaper ones in action and they're pretty sluggish and most have no way to upgrade to a higher version of Android.

Better off just getting a good phone mount and using your phone for Android Auto and Bluetooth to your standard stereo over these generic Android head units in my opinion.
