Annoying Parking sensor issue

Afternoon to the forum

I have following annoying issue I hope someone can help me out with.

When selecting reverse gear (no obstruction to the rear I might add) the parking sensor alarm sounds on the drivers side rear - the closest red bar appears. The alarm doesn't go off until I drive away in 1st gear

The snesor is not dirty and has not been power washed directly.

Anyone have a similar issue at all - or perhaps can throw some light on the fault -

When you say no obstruction to the rear, the sensors can be quite sensitive to anything brambles bracken and so on It does not have to be solid. The other thing, I seam to recall that the handbook advising against power washing.

there is no obstruction at all - 20ft all round the van - nothing in the way at all - never power washed the sensor rear - i read that too

Ah well that is the limit of my help I am afraid you will need to wait for someone with better vehicle DIY skills!

I had this issue last year. A day or two later the ABS, traction control and other warnings lit up. New ABS sensor has cleared all the faults (hopefully).
Don’t know if they’re linked?

Get a code reader and see if any faults have been logged, it could be a failing sensor.

Check the plug on the rear for moisture, you can also try swapping two sensors around and see if the problem follows to the new position

@FAC51 - if the above does not work, did you make any changes to your van before the problem started? We could not figure out why the reversing sensors on a T5 were doing this sort of thing until LED reversing lamps (bulbs) were removed and replaced with the originals - problem solved.
