This was the direction i was going to suggest...i suspect will be the cheapest/least disruptive way, you could incorporate a box gutter in to the add on part to almost make a feature of it...

If you look down the close in line with your garage door do other properties stick out more than your
Garage? If yes thats a positive!

The first place to look is at your neighbours houses and whether anybody else has extended forward at all?

if so a precedent has been set, but as others have said the building line is so important

if you can’t come forward, is the garage wide enough to consider adding a door on the side of the garage?

Extend forwards at same pitch but lower garage entrance and floor level so you still have the height
