Any VW detectives out there?

Calling all VW detectives.
I'm due to collect my VW 6.1 Kombi next Monday.
Just been told by Slidepods it drives sluggishly and they found a long list of fault codes, though they ca't tell me what fault codes...
It's going to see an auto electrician near Slidepods tomorrow am but I'm wondering if any of the following are known causes:

Leighton Vans say it left with no faults after they fitted:
- tow bar
- virtual dash
- leather seats
- wheels
- B14 Komfort
But they acknowledge it was always very low on fuel as we had the fuel crisis.

Slidepods say they haven't done anything to generate error codes but they have done:
- pop top
- Caravelle seats
- stereo upgrade
- dashcam
- electrics in van
- inverter and solar panel

I know the actual codes would help and I hope to get them tomorrow but could any of the above cause the problem in anyone's experience and can all be cleared by an auto diagnostic specialist or will it need a visit to a VW dealer ;(
Have you charged the batteries fully, yet? You may think a drive to France would fully charge them but you don’t want egg on your face if you’re told that a low battery has caused several of the error codes.

Yes batteries fully charged. Now I have the vehicle, most error codes are resolved but some remain as a result of the stereo, TPMS and virtual dash mainly. Now I’m working through a list of issues remaining and hope things get resolved but never imagined there would be so many things to fix. Overall, the problem is there has been very little quality control on all the work resulting In around 25 issues now needing to be followed up. At least Leighton are taking responsibility as they admit they have fallen way short.

Glad to hear it. Have you been using Carista or VCDS to diagnose and clear?

@TheWandering hoping you have resolved your issues, however i would strongly recommend retrofits at Nuneaton, extremely switched on and know what they're doing

I could say a plenty about each of the companies you have mentioned, from personal experience, one extremely very good and the other is polar opposite, but i would not want to get into trouble with the forum lol

Said and done wishing you well and hope you enjoy your dub

Hi Pauly, as mentioned on my other posts, I’ve now got the van and did a 1,000 km drive back to France in it. Lovely drive on the 20in wheels with Bilstein B14 Komfort coil overs, albeit lots of wind noise and very thirsty (21mpg).
Their remains the list of 25 or so items to fix and Leighton are being very helpful.
I’m surprised overall at how many mistakes were made but maybe that‘s normal for van conversions as I have a high spec.
Maim gripes are ride height set so low the tyres rub on road dips and the loss of TPMS and other safety features because of the 20in wheels. Rest are electrical faults, error codes, missing items, items fitted incorrectly etc.
Will send full set of pics soon. One or two for now.

As far as I’m aware the front sits lower than the back from factory. It’s the wheel arch to wheel centre measurement that’s important.
Is that correct @CRS Performance ?

Ride height looks fine to me, as said it's a balance between looks and practicality, and that looks pretty good.

It's rubbing because the tyres are too big though.

Leighton insist on putting those huge 275/40r20 tyres on all their 20" wheels, too big dia. and also too wide for the fronts.
Guess it makes them more money bulk buying cheaper sizes.

A standard van will sit 40 mm lower on the front , the measurements in the pictures above look like 30 mm difficult to tell from the angle the pictures are taken at , 275 40 20 Tyres Often used by discount houses as it’s the cheapest solution . Selling those wheels and tyres with a coil over kit is asking for trouble particularly on the front. . Need to lift the van a bit or change the front tyres ?.

I have the Leighton LV1 and you are correct. The 275/40/20 is too wide for an 8.5j wheel. I’ve changed my fronts to 245/45/20 and it drives so much better.6A966871-7A8A-4305-87C3-3B1B7C282894.jpeg

I’m looking at a stereo upgrade, what errors did your throw up?
The errors were to do with the Alpine head unit as my OVD11 can’t communicate with that module as it’s not there.

Reading some of the OP, I also have Direct TPMS which might show more fault codes. Do you have Direct TMPS?

I have TPMS however mine works by the ABS sensing the rotation of the wheels. No physical hardware within the wheels. Have you swapped out tyres or upgraded wheels recently as the TPMS needs to learn these changes.

I looked into changing the wheels but the new valves are £300 so it makes changing a bit expensive. By the time you add on decent tyres you looking north of £2k

So you really need to add the valves, I am no expert but I would have thought adding the non valve TPMS would be doable? @Dellmassive @Pauly @Loz is this doable?
