Anyone Driven To Morocco?

I drove my transit van with an XR400 in the back to Morocco in 2011 without any issues. If your insurance company wont cover you, it's easy and common practice to buy it at the port of entry, its a set amount so you dont get ripped off.
I've travelled all over the country on a motorbike many times, its a great place to visit.
My only advice is stay away from the major cities as the driving can be very manic and do not speed as you will get caught and issued an on the spot fine as happened to me twice.
Try to get to the Middle, Anti or High Atlas as they really are quite special, as is the desert further south. Essouaria is a cool place too, it reminds me of Cornwall with the sea mist in the morning.
Enjoy....

A few of my mates done a top gear style challenge to morocco a few years ago.
Set a £2000 budget, buy a motorbike, Super tenere/Africa twin etc etc, get them sorted and then ride down and back.
Sell up and see whats left after expenses.

If you have a few more days you could do a route like this

Thanks for the great info in your original post @Loz

Has anyone visited the main cities like Marrakesh while touring in a campervan? Can you safely camp nearby and get into the city? I just feel that if you are going to Morocco, you should experience a place like Marrakesh!

There is a large campsite outside town, you can take a cab into the centre.
