Anyone got a Dometic CFF 35 or CDF 36? Looking for Opinions.

Have to run it via an inverter for compressor mode. But cheap.

I have this fridge and it is BRILLIANT. Runs easily for 3-4 days on my leisure battery. Not sure why but, It uses a lot less power if you run it on 12v as apposed to 240v.
Maintains temp really well. It lives in my van all year round and has been a godsend this last few days. I also use it when out shopping for food as I then don't need to rush home with the cold food.
I believe it is the same running gear as the Dometic and a lot cheaper. Also, has a usb socket, which is handy.
I 100% recommend it.

It will be with me at the Summer meet if you want a closer look.
Thanks Gary. Much appreciated. I thought it may have been the same make as the one you bought at BusFest of camperJam last year. Good to know you are happy with it. How quiet/loud is it? I want to have bought it to use at the meet, but thanks.

You're welcome Jon,
I did buy it at Busfest. Think I paid £450 as a show deal.
It's very quiet. Obviously you can hear it but it doesn't keep you awake at night. Can't compare it noise wise to a Dometic but I'm a light sleeper and it doesn't disturb me. Also, they did tell me its the same running gear so one would assume its the same level of noise.
Not sure what the difference is in price between the Dometic but I would certainly buy another one.

Thanks again, thats considerably cheaper than I can buy (about £100), but I guess its a bad time to be in the market, end of lockdown looking and everyone wanting to get away. Strange thing is the next size up is cheaper.
The Dometic ones are a bit more, but have app control and the new ones this year are apparently even quieter and more efficient, but more expensive obviously.
Is that 3 - 4 days on the leisure battery without any charging?

Cheers

I have one of these - Dometic Waeco CoolFreeze CFX 40W Portable Compressor Fridge Freezer Cool Box - and it is brilliant. Really useful size. low energy useage as it is compressor.

Mine was a show special price. Now you've mentioned app control, thats very tempting but I love gadgets. I tend to just leave it on all the time, whether I'm using it or not and the van frequently sits on the drive for 3 days at a time. If i'm not on site for a few days then I'll switch it off (which it is now) but it lasts 3 days easily with Volts dropping to mid 11. My leisure battery is near 3 years old now so probably not running at its best so could potentially last longer.
As previously mentioned, I run it off the 12v supply. I do have an inverter but it seemed to eat more battery when plugged in. Not sure if thats the inverter using power or something to do with taking 240V to the drop down to lower power by the fridge. Its all beyond me. @Dellmassive is your man for that.

This is my year round set up (when not stripped out for carrying stuff).

Drinks are left in the big fridge (which is normally always on) and transferred to the small fridge before any journey which is only switched on when driving.

Works for me.

I've got the CFX35 which is an awsome fridge.

then got the additional "jacket" that makes a big difference on keeping the temp down, and therefore keeps the power usage down.

it seems that Dometic "as a company" just use other people stuff and put there lable on it and sell it for twice the price . . .

saying that they bought KAMPA the other year . . . . so now all the Kampa stuff is Dometic branded . . .

anyway the point is . . . .

I seams like there is a couple of china factories knocking out tons of these fridges and being rebranded by allsorts.

i cant see the difference in most of them looking at the specs..

so i think the internals are all the same as are the control panel etc . . .

...

so look at these . . . . same fridge, and the jacket is included.

Thanks @Dellmassive, much appreciated for that info.

I am a bit dubious as to the Polarbox ones. I know you say the internals and control are the same but there is no way to tell, they may bot be as robust or same quality even if specs are similar.
Same applies to the casings being inferior quality and may be more inclined to break.

AS you say, you bought Dometic, rather than the cheaper versions.

I discounted Outwell as it is an external transformer for 230V operation and I dont want another thing to keep track of. It could go missing when needed.

Vitrifrigo looking favourite at the moment.

I've got this one . . .

Managed to bag one on ebay for a cracking price and was basically new.

Defo big price. For the difference Id go with the new, rather than that. However the Vitrifrigo still favourite.

Although I've just found some called ARB
