Anyone had experience removing armaplates and repairing underneath?

As the title says. Purchased the van with the plate on it. Wondering if it’s better to have it taken off and repaired or just buy a new sliding door? Thanks

its easier to just replace the slider for a replacement and sell that slider on.

it can be repaired, but needs new metal welded in, then filler and paint etc. - plus the obvious remove, strip down, repair, paint, rebuild, refit.

this is what it may look like behind that plate.

plus the 6x 10mm holes that the plate studs go through as well.

Do you know it’s actually damaged underneath? It’s mostly put there for security not to cover damage but people do add them to hide damage. I’d leave it as it is spend your money elsewhere especially on a silver van don’t detract from looks.

Yeah I’d leave it on, maybe spray it or be clever with some vinyl/decals? If anything you have added security!

I’m tempted to buy one of those dummy locks that stick on.

They made out of stainless steel.

I'm now seeing a lot of people vinyl wrapping them to colour code against the van.

It's basically the only vulnerability on the T6 is that handle the belden cable and the catch on the right.
