Auto Central locking

Lord Mfwic

I'm Batman.
T6 Legend
I have a new 17 plate, SWB Kombi.
My central locking does not auto lock the doors when I drive off. Is there a setting I need to trigger or is this an optional extra ?
I would have thought this would be standard on all modern vehicles.

Thanks in advance.

@Mfwic have a search on the forum for carista, think some have failed to activate auto locking. Worked for me on a 2016 Kombi.

@DaveBos . Thanks, I'll have a good look through before ordering but after watching the video by Carista, it seems a very handy piece of kit to have and something I would feel confident using on my own Bus.

@DaveBos . Just googled it. Seems a really good piece of kit and simple to us. I'm going to order one and see how I get on.
@Mfwic, it's a lot of money if you are only going to use VCDS to enable a couple of coding changes. I feel I may offer a couple of alternatives;
1. Go for Christa as it is a lot cheaper, you can buy a weeks pass and do pretty much everything you'll need to do.
2. Wait 5 weeks till Busfest as Pauly has said he'll be bringing his laptop, and for a beer or two he'll do all the changes you are after.
It's just a lot of money for using on very odd occasions, only really makes sense if you are using it regularly.

@DaveBos . I'm only thinking of Carista as its pretty cheap and they offer a free months trial when you buy it so will take advantage of that. It might then prove useful in the future should I get a warning light or similar. I'll check through the forum and see what others think before I buy but I'm a bit of a gadget geek so like the idea of having one. I'll let you know how things turn out.
Thank you for the advice.
This forum is just fantastic. :D

I like a gadget as well and keep wondering if I can justify it for myself, but since I have already made pretty much most of the changes I'm ever going to want, it just keeps going over to that side of the list that would be "nice to have".
Ps me and @DaveBos are not the same person, we may both have white vans and have the initials DB........although we must never occupy the same space at the same time;).

Excuse dragging up an old thread, but I cannot seem to find the answer I need.

I set my auto-lock with my Carista, which had been working fine until today. I noticed that it's stopped unlocking the doors when I turn off the ignition, and they remain locked until I pull the door handle.

Any advice?

That's strange.
can you just clarify what you have written, as it should only unlock upon removal of the key from the ignition, not just when you turn the ignition off, otherwise it will take a pull on the handle to trigger the unlock.
If however you do mean that it is not occuring when you remove the key from the ignition, when it had been working fine, my only suggestion is go back into Carista/ VCDS and double check the settings to see if something has become 'undone'. It shouldn't occur, but perhaps there has been some electrical tom-foolery occuring. Have you disconnected your battery for a long period?
By the way. Well done for searching for the answer and resurecting an old thread rather than strating a whole new one.

Firstly I know how annoying it can be when the same questions get asked over and over again, without people bothering to actually use the search box, which by the way works really well.

I haven't disconnected the battery no.
To confirm it won't unlock when I remove the key anymore, on the same subject i'm sure the interior light came on when you removed the key also, but thats not working either.

Unless........ I did actually add a new ignition live socket for my dash cam yesterday, and removed a fuse to plug the socket into. I did notice at the time that the radio seemed to switch off with the ignition, when i'm sure it stayed on until you removed the key. I wonder if that's anything to do with it thinking about it.

I reckon you have just found your answer. Somehow you have tricked the BCM into thinking that you've not actually removed the key. The radio should turn off when you remove the key from the ignition as well. It is at that point with key removed that you can turn it back on independantly but it has a timer circuit to switch it back off after 30 mins or so to save your starter battery.
Same is also definately the case for the interior lights. Pull the key, it knows you've stopped, and does you the courtesy of turning on the interior lights and external "coming home" lighting if you have it.

The dash cam stays on for a further 15 seconds when the the key is removed. I wonder if this is causing this issue. I will just swap the socket into a different ignition live to see if that fixes the issue.

If not, remove it altogether to prove that this is the source.
What set of fuses are you using for the ignition live? To memory the whole middle row in the bottom central dashboard fuse bank are ignition live.
