Auto headlight switch retrofit EU6 T6

Factory Auto lights use the light/rain sensor in the windscreen. I'm guess you don't have Auto wipers if the new switch didn't work?
I have auto wipers, but I need the unit which plugs in between the switch and the wiring harness. On the left below.

If yours is eu6, non-xenon standard lights with small connector I see no reason why it would not work as should be same as mine. Good luck - easily the cheapest and best value mod I have done to date.

I put the wire through the back, popped side dash trim off near the door and fed it through until I could grab it under lower dash, then neatly fed it around the side of the dash where the panel was popped off, and to make it look neat, popped a pillar off and put cable under that, cable tying neatly to the tweeter loom and out near back of dash. Cleaned corner of the dash near windscreen, stuck sensor in the corner facing windscreen and all good

Probably took about 20 mins all in.

If your van is like mine it will chime when ignition is removed with the switch in the auto position, but only does this a few times and shows message once, then stops.

It does the same and chimes when you unlock, as the lights come on, but bot a big issue for me.

Maybe at somepoint we will discover if we can disable the light off warning.

It could be byte 5 bit 3 changing 1 to 0, but I wouldn’t like to say for sure as I cannot confirm as I haven’t had chance to try and need to wait until I see my friend with obdeleven next (I really want to buy obdeleven but do not have an android device atm!).

Maybe if anyone else can check what byte 5 bit 3 description if it has one they can perhaps provide a bit more insight.
I have auto switch fitted to my van it has Xenon light I think it dreaming battery would I be right when left on auto over nite

Still wondering if this would work on a t6.1? Or could be made to work..

I’ll be honest I stopped using mine, as occasionally when I looked out the window my headlights would randomly come on when I was not in the van, like the coming home feature had been activated? Maybe there is a way to disable it not sure? Ideally I want auto headlights to just be fit and forget, there isn’t much point having an autoheadlight switch if you have to turn it on and off. Not sure if anyone else had this? My battery was on its way out and has since been replaced, perhaps the drop in voltage was playing it up…

I have to admit, I have the same issue.
I stupidly didn't do my homework. Bought a nice switch and then discovered I needed the module and light sensor. Bought from eBay what was assured would do the T6 but the packaging said something else, Bora I think. It doesn't work greatly. Turn the ignition of and the drivers side light stays on. I did wonder if it needs coding in but haven't explored it.
By then it would have cost double to just buy the right kit from a Transporter parts specialist.
I'd still like to get front fog lights fitted.

Mines for a golf 7, but irrespective of what anyone says they are the same chinese part, some transporter places just mark it up and they all say you must turn it ‘off’ when not in use. I ‘think’ the switch detects voltage fluctuations quite crudely and then switches the coming home feature on, as it seems to mirror thay behaviour when the ignition is off and cycles the lights for 20-30s or whatever it is.

It is a shame, as welcome and coming home lights and auto is a great feature set for less that £30. Just not sure how to fix it so its stable.

I have autoheadlight switch on mine, it has the light sensor on the switch itself. It is annoying as it puts the lights on during bright daytime because the sensor is where it is. Also now my front retro fitted fogs are on when lights are switched to auto. They don't come on with headlights if in use the manual headlight switch. In short, auto selected(headlight, side light and fog are on) headlights selected (sides and headlight on) have to pull out switch to turn the fogs on.
I do have another switch with the external sensor but did prefer this one.
