Awning advice for a family of four?

Hello Forum,

We are about to embark on getting our van converted, should be ready for Easter.

One question we are yet to answer is what awning should we invest in?

We will be predominantly using it for 2/3 nights at a time, family of four (2x kids 5/7yo).

Need as much room as we can get with a good trade off between speed, ease to put up/down and minimal pack size.

What in your opinion would be our ideal awning?

Hi Jason,

We have an Outdoor Revolution Cayman Air. Cayman Air

It is very quick to assemble and easy to put away. We also have the optional annex.

We like it and have used it a lot. FYI we are a family of four - two children aged 11 and 9

Evening - I purchased an outdoor revolution cayman cacos air awning last year for £400. Cracking bit of kit to be honest, especially for the price. Takes about 15 mins to set up once you get the hang of it.

I'd go as big as you can store. 4 of us here. Used to have the vango Kela IV, which was fine for a season albeit cramped. With the kids sleeping hardly any room for storage, and forget sitting or cooking if the weather turned.

Upgraded to vango galli now and it is so much better! Room to sleep, chill, cook, change, etc.

Also won't be many years before your kids want to bring tagalongs. More space will help with that too.

Make sure whatever you buy can fit on a 'standard' camping pitch .
While there's no hard and set rules on the standard size they are typically 8mx5m or there abouts so factor the width of your van and awning connected including the tunnel .
No good turning up and not being able to stay because you don't fit .
