Awning repair

Hi,
we spend the last couple of days in Dorset. Last night we had a bit of wind - I opened the tunnel doors in the awning and shut the pop top.
Still the awning has been ripped out of its C-Rail connector.

Any idea if someone in the West Midlands can fix it?

You will need a new section of kador strep sewn in....

Must have been some strong wind to rip that.

Our camp neighbour lives 20min down the road and sad he had never seen it like that in the area.
Quite a few broken tents and awnings here today.
One guy drove his car over the tent to stop it from flying away.

Just seen a bigger problem. The pop top was lowered in a rush and the canvas was trapped in the hinge.
It’s not a hole but not looking good. IMG_2666.jpeg

There's no indication of scale in the picture but I suspect Tear Aid would sort the pop top out and halt any further deterioration.

On a site near Newbury (Bishops Green Farm) and wasn't expecting the wind to be quite as strong as it was last night: We only had the Kyham Sun canopy on the van, together with the zip on sides and front. Was blowing around quite a bit, giving us a pretty sleepless night, and finally let go at 4am, tearing all down one side above the zip on the sun canopy itself.
Was fun taking it all down in the dark in our PJs before it had chance to do any damage to the van and we now have a redundant set of zipped sides and front as the Kyham Sun canopy doesn't seem to be available anywhere to buy now.
Time to start looking for an alternative to replace it for quick stopovers where we still want more privacy than our debus canopy gives us but where we can't be bothered to put up our Vango air awning. Hopefully something stronger too.

@EAN When you say 'privacy' are you talking full enclosed or the two sides? I made a couple of side walls up for our Debus from a white tarp (other colours are available!). I pressed a few eyelets into it and use a couple of spring clamps at the top - depending on how you want them, they can be pulled out as in the pictures or fixed square to the roof. In Italy last year, we had a horrendous storm but it was still warm and we could sit outside without the rain getting to us and, importantly, it all stayed up. As you might make out from the pictures, the campsite was quite busy so we really needed that little bit of privacy They're a bit 'MacGyver' but actually look OK in practice.

Feeling your pain - we are in (no longer) windy Dorset.

If you can't find tent repairs and are near the coast it's always worth asking about to see if there are sailmakers in the area as they may have similar heavy duty sewing capabilities.

Also look for boat cover makers or ask local marquee hire folks.

If you know someone with at least a medium duty domestic machine (local amdram group?) then you can get new kador strip on eBay:

Lesson learned. The problem was that the van had all doors shut. Pulling the roof down has inflated the pop top and forced the canvas out.
Had a chat with the installer - they will put a patch on it free of charge.
Still an unnecessary scar 😂
