Awnings in the Wind

The main arguments against air are that they're heavier and bulkier (when packed-down) than their poled counterparts, and that it's easier/cheaper to buy a replacement pole than to replace a leaky/punctured air tube - all of which are, IMO, true.

Some also reckon poled versions are more resilient to the wind, but I don't buy that argument.
Ah yes I see, I would not like a puncture I wouldn't cope with that, best to be careful with it, I like my Arpenaz but not tested it in strong wind or rain, will try it in garden maybe :) Thanks

Hello, I just got a Quechua from Decathlon BUT have not used it yet. Has anyone coped with an awning in the wind, rain and recent unpredictable weather, can it stay anchored, do you have to run out and take it down in the pouring rain, what is the procedure..........sit and watch it fall down .....ha
No issue with my awning staying anchored down, the keder strip tapping the van constantly in the the wind is a different story though , when it's too windy I disconnect it from the van before going to sleep.

What awning @Sirrell85 ? Its an issue I've fortunately never had!

The Arpenaz has a flap-over top part, tie down the other side of van, so no kador, but I would disconnect if I get one with a kador coz I need my sleeeeep :)

As long as there is a bit of tension on the kador strip it won't make a noise. When you peg it out there won't be an issue.
Apologies for going off track, we can be guilty of doing that occasionally!

Just make sure the straps and flaps don't mar the paintwork - it's easy done when they're moving around in the wind. Consider strategically positioned PPF to protect your paintwork.

Yes, I will, thanks for advice :)
