Battery charger recommendations CTEK / Victron ?

Sorry, also slightly confused. Are you saying this only applies if connecting to starter battery. I have my Victron bluesmart charger connected to both positive and negative of my lithium leisure battery in my 6.1. Is this okay or should I use a ground such as the seat post instead of the negative terminal of the leisure batt. Thanks in advance.
Yes correct. Only a concern if charging starter battery. Leisure unaffected.

Relax people . . . .

This only applies to the starter battery on a T6/T6.1 (that has stop start)

Reason: the starter battery has a sensor attached to the battery negitive post that monitors the power in/out of the battery.... the sensor is used by the Van's computer or EMS (energy management system) for stop/start, emission and alternator control.

This does not relate to your leisure battery..... (unless you have your own second shunt/monitor like a victron BMV712)

Having said that using a body ground is never an issue and my preferred method. (Ensuring your battery/body ground link is sufficient)

That’s fine for your leisure battery. The starter battery has a shunt on the -ve terminal that basically counts the amps in and out of the battery. If you connect a charger to the -ve post of the starter battery the shunt won’t be aware of the amps going in.

Cheers @Deaky understand now

Out of interest, does this apply to any car with stop / start? I ask as, apart from the T6, we’ve got a Honda and an Audi which both have it. Also, as asked above, what’s a suitable place for the negative crocodile clip if you can’t use the battery terminal please?
they will almost certainly have some form of shunt/monitor on the battery negative terminal.
What does that mean please? Apologies for asking but I've no ides what a 'shunt/monitor' is and as I've said on here before, I'm a complete numpty when it comes to car mechanical or electrical stuff.
Hi (and sorry to bring this up again!). Can anybody give any further information following the exchange above please. I need the answers as I probably need to give the Audi SQ5 and Honda Civic starter batteries a top up but if there's any potential harm from simply connecting the clips to the positive and negative terminals. I obviously don't want to do it and need to find another place for the negative clip - all suggestions gratefully accepted. Cheers in advance.

Sorry but I just realised that there was another page with an answer to the question about an alternative ground. Is a body ground just connecting the clip to anything else in the car that's metal and connected directly to the chassis or bodywork please?

Yes basically
