Battery code tool

It’s only available on later models. I had this message from Carista as I wanted it for that reason.

“It appears that the CAN gateway ECU (where the Battery registration service tool is coded) in your VW Transporter uses the old generation communication protocol (CAN). Unfortunately, we don't have Battery registration for those models at the moment. It's only available for models that use the next-generation protocol (UDS).”

Find a member close to you who has VCDS and ask if he/she can do it for you.

Just to amuse you, when I changed my battery from the factory installed one the coding didn't match the battery!

Hi are taking the pro version ?
Lots on ebay n amazon - its a minefield out there
Obd11 Pro let's you code as per vcds.

From memory the device is about 45 quid and the subscription on top is about 25 per year.

I have carista as well but it's not a patch on the obd11

Anyone on the Wirral/Liverpool/Chester with VCDS or something else to do a battery registration?
My starter battery has pretty much died from the cold weather so was going to order a replacement today.C
Cheers
Matt

@Mike23864 I just got this reply from Carista:

"Hello Matthew,

Thank you for using Carista! Battery registration is supported Service for your vehicle. When you register the new battery, please make sure to enter the correct Battery capacity and Battery technology. Also keep in mind that the Battery manufacturer can be 3 characters long, and Battery serial number is exactly 10 characters long.

Please let me know if you have any questions or run into issues.

I told them mine was a 2017 T6.

Hi, did Carista work for your battery registration?

Hi. No, it didn't. Mine is a 2017 T30 Trendline.
I’ve got a 2017 T6 too and the dealer told me a battery fit would be £375. Shopping around I see Halfords own brand AGM 115 ( reputedly a Yuasa in disguise) is £159 with £25 to fit. They can code it in too. My only concern is the battery I have now really labours. Wondering wether I should get a bigger amp version like S5 A13 Bosch. Not sure if it would fit though. Then there’s the coding in if I buy from Tayna. All a bit of a worry. Ho hum.

The S5 A13 will fit, it's a squeeze but so long as you don't have anything else taking up the space, the battery will fit in the tray.

Yes, I used VCDS.
There's a thread I started with all the details in it somewhere.
