Big Green - 204bhp Bamboo Green Vanworx - Day van conversion

What are the black things fitted into the edge of the ply - some sort of fixing?

Lovely build - carpentry is stunning. I’d thought of a set of modular ply boxes for a bed base which can be removed easily - its just storing them when not in use!

Keep the updates coming!

Regards
Ian

Yes they are a special cabinet fixing, I use them on the photobooths I build, so made sense to use what I know on this!

Yea I was originally thinking about a removable setup, but to be honest, like you, storing it would be a PITA! So instead this will effectively become the floor of the van, so I can put sheet material etc on this and across the kombi seats folded down, that way I only have to store a mattress when Im using the van for work!

Thanks for the compliments, I shall keep on keeping on!

Very nice... so you thinking of doing van conversions as a trade now? :D

Ha, unfortunately there aren't enough hours in the day when im normally working! Once I have this design down, I may offer them for sale and see if I get any interest, but I'd need to sit down and figure out if they would/could be competitive compared to other setup's on the market.

Bit more on the camper setup today, the parts I've been waiting on finally arrived so I could get the final test assembly done!

Got the lids on the back section, with locking multi point stays, which will enable us to set it up as a seat/sofa using the mattress, facing out the back of the van  The stay's I have used have 12 different locking points, so we can adjust the angle of the back to exactly how we want it!

Also got the evo catches fitted just to check fitment... all good!

Great work, I’m sure you’d get plenty of interest if you offered these for sale.
I’m wondering if those stays would work on the rear section of the Reimo 3000 seat/bed, it would be nice to be able to use it as a backrest. Do you have any pictures or a link for said stays?

Been doing the boring but necessary bits the last couple of days, final layer of insulation (I wasn’t going to do a third layer, but then decided that it would be stupid not to whilst I have all the panels off! And a 110Ah leisure battery setup with 240v hook up...

Managed to squeeze the battery and CTEK under the drivers seat, with an inverter under the passenger seat!
Everything else is in the rear corner of the van and will be under the bed platform, so safe from damage and not visible, whilst still being accessible!

Got the roof panels back on (that was a mission on my own!) didn’t realise I’d need longer clips for joining strips, so waiting for them to arrive now!

Ill be honest, wiring etc is pretty high up on my list of jobs I don’t like.... I’m capable of doing it, I just don’t like doing it! :think smile bounce:

Also put some storage nets on the rear panels (will be both sides) just to chuck those odds and sod!

Hoping to finish the wiring tomorrow, so I can reassemble the interior. Then I will strip and rout the edges of the panels where necessary, seal them with osmo oil, then it will finally be time for final assembly in the van!!!

Spent last week finalising the last few bits on the electrics, all finished and tested!

Then sealed all of the edges of the camping/day van setup with osmo oil, I used a version which has a white pigment in to keep the edges nice and light as I love the look of the hexa ply in its natural colour!

Finally today I fitted the whole thing!! Went in pretty smoothly, couple of little snags, but all in all I am well happy with it! Can’t wait to get away now!!!

Firstly, I can't actually believe how amazing that looks! You are too talented. Secondly, where did you get your storage nets from please? ;)

First time out in anger this weekend... absolutely bloody loved it!

Everything worked really well, even got to test it out in the rain as it was lashing down on Friday, was still able to cook etc under the tailgate without getting wet! Will probably look as some kind of awning/side shelter setup at some point, but well happy with it all
