Bognor Motors TVS + REVO remap

just to play devils advocate, could some of the benefits set out above not be achieved by driving around in sport mode? I'm not belittling the upgrade, just testing what the real benefits are

also, is the map engine/output specific?

Hello @benp1

The driveability map is so much more than sport mode. Sport made can be quite tiring using daily, and doesn't address the issues as below

The benefits are quicker/smoother changes - Which seems hard to believe considering how quick they are standard.
The DSG pause when pulling away is gone
No mismatching of gears at lower speeds, or wrong gear selection when approaching junctions etc
The gearbox doesn't try to get into 7th at too lower speed, nor hold onto gears like sport mode. So you loose the labouring groan when putting your foot down, then it jumps into too lower a gear

It really does need to be driven to get how good the improvement is

They are gearbox specific, but if your start running big horsepower(High performance cars) then there are stage 1, 2 2+ etc that can be run. My stage 2 RS3 is running stage 2+ TVS software.

I’ve only had mine a few days, but the start from standing is painfully slow. Once moving, I’ve not noticed these other concerns yet, but it’s early days.
Im seriously considering this and to hell with the warranty... Not sure I can wait 15 months.

Is there another map as well as the driveability map and if so what are the differences?.

I want this already and I haven't even got the van yet. If I could have got the 150 in a manual I would have, but I was impressed by the DSG, and perhaps more importantly, so was the missus. I also tried a 199 (not available in S spec orange) and the 150 seemed to suit the DSG better - was I dreaming?

Same benefits for T6.1 I assume?

There are other maps, but the next step up form drivability, to carry over the same benefits, is stage 2+ and you need to be nearing 700nm/516lbft or torque, so not applicable to transporters, just higher tuned cars - Other setting can be changed like Launch control revs, gear change speed etc. They have got incredible control over these boxes

Yes the T6.1 behaves better than the t6, with later software, but the benefits are the same - My demo was particular laggy pulling away, but the TVS has sorted it, as well as all the other benefits. I've think once you've had TVS you realise it downfalls easier.
Im looking forward to adding the Revo map when available to complete the package

Unfortunately, new 6.1s like mine have had the sport mode removed. :(

@ScottyMac No they don’t. You just pull the lever back and it knocks it into S mode. Knock it back again into D

I had a DSG Passat in the past and wasn't happy with it so I was hesitant when spec'ing the van but I really wanted an automatic. The test van I drove was a 150 and I'd agree it somehow felt better than the 199 but that was a small, gentle test drive.

Now that I've driven a few hundred miles in mine I have all the symptoms described above. I just can't understand how so much time, effort, and expense can go into developing systems like this and then a short period of driving highlights such flaws... the missus growls every time I attempt to pull away from a junction briskly... press the accelerator, not much happens, so you instinctively press harder, then the gearbox realises you want to go forward and engages the clutch sending the wheels into a spin. Loutish behaviour! Then you approach a roundabout cautiously, spot a opportunity to go, step on the peddle and, nothing happens... cue a squirming wife who now believes I deliberately waited too long to pull out and then didn't get a move on when I eventually did. My Mercedes slush box was so much more responsive, was almost always in the correct gear, and I can't say that the changes felt any slower than the DSG.

This software update sounds like the code VW should have put in the thing in the first place but, given how complex and costly a DSG gearbox issue could be, I wouldn't want to give VW any excuses to wriggle out of repairs.

Blimey. I stand corrected. Never used it anyway. Soon VW will remove the seats, as they are dropping everything from the specification :fast rofl:

Is there anyone in the North West that could do this DSG remap on my Pendle tuned TSI?
or at least closer than a 5 hour, 300 odd mile drive to BognorMotors.

Awesome gti in manchester do it.https://www.awesomegti.com/tvs-dsg-software
Blimey, that's a company name I've not heard of in a while. A guy called Jim Cotton use to own it in the 90's and did a lot of interestingly fast things with Mk 2 Golf GTI's - I wonder if it's the same fella now?

I dont know much about them only that when i put in google search near me they came up. They also do their own engine remap. Anyone in the north west had anything done by them?.

Categorically no.
Sport mode none mapped just holds the gears way too long on acceleration, and smashes back down the box when slowing off. I rarely used Sport on my 204 because I have flappy paddles.
On that subject, I haven't actually used my paddles once, since the TVS, compared to using them every single day before. In fact, the next trimmed none paddle wheel that pops up for sale, I'd be happy to buy if it was trimmed how I wanted, where as before, I'd never of sacrificed my paddles.

Interesting point there Paul. As I had paddles on my TSI and Used them all the time and have never used them on my TDI.

Loving the software then?

I have steering wheels ready to go- what are you after?

Yes loving the TVS. The Revo is fantastic and gives the biggest jump in grin factor, but the TVS just silk lines the REVO. If, or when I go 6.1, these 2 mods are on my must have first week mods.

I want a full Carbon wheel, or as much Carbon as possible because it's easier to wipe clean. Leather is ok, but Alcantara is definitely not practical for us as a work van.

My mate had a new Carbon wheel that he never used and sold it for £400. I was offered it first, but because it didn't have paddles, I wasn't interested at the time.

Man, I so desperately want this. The lethargy of my DSG box is unreal, which i do find surprising because my skoda, with the 6 speed DSG and 184ps, is so much more responsive.

But being less than 1 yr into my warranty I'm just a bit terrified of invalidating any warranty over the box
