Brake caliper painting

Nice - which paint did you use? I'm planning on doing the same sometime soon :)

Thanks. I can’t remember, it’s at work! I’ll let you know.

It went on quite well, & is very fast to get touch dry. Took a couple of coats, & second coats have to be applied within an hour. Takes 18-24 hours to fully cure.
I drove home same day, but was very gentle on brakes so as not to cook!

I paid £750 for mine to be done, I added the R decals. If you can do it half as well for a fraction of the cost then go for it!

Hello matey

When you say 700 odd quid was that for the front and rear? What's going on there are they stick on covers?
Or actual calipers?
Got any links to buying breaks that look like that then I'll paint them.

Please

They are the bigger brakes that come as standard on a T32

These are my original T32 calipers, front and rear, completely stripped down, cleaned, powder coated and put back on the van. I've done over 17,0000 miles in 18 months with them and they still come up like brand new when cleaned.

There’re Goodrich All Terrains KO2’s all I can say is that there’re brilliant and if you followed our recent trip across Mongolia without one puncture you will understand why I rate them so much. A little noisy on the road but I’m ok with that.

I swear by silver hammerite smooth, quick rub down with a wire brush and lasts for ages. Not perfect but still look far better than rusty callipers. Every two years or so just needs a refresh overpaint . Done it on all my vehicles for years
Mine are due again soon but here’s what they look like after a couple of years

Aaaaaarghhh.

I've spent all evening looking at caliper paint having been inspired by @Dellmassive recent 'How I done it' video, thinking I'll be brave (ish). But after seeing this thread and @Smr72 's calipers in silver, wondering if I should play it safe. Problem is, silver is rather prominent on my van. Thinking a subtle, subdued navy blue would be as adventurous as I was prepared to go. Sometimes, less is more.

I recently painted the calipers red using that 'enamel type' paint from Amazon, and was not entirely happy with the end result, or the colour with the new Black Copper finish on my wheels.
So, I think that a bright yellow would be better.
If I remove and strip the calipers I can get them powdercoated yellow for a good price........Or I could get them cerakoted, I restored a Ducati a year or so ago and had a lot of the parts cerakoted.
The finish is lovely and really thin too. Here are a few pics of the finish in magnesium/gold on the 999.
Cerakote do the perfect yellow, called Corvette Yellow.
The cerakote works out a little more expensive, but less than £100 more, so I think its pretty much a no brainer.

Comments/advice most welcome as always :)
