Apologies for the thread revival (thought it better than starting a new one on the same topic), I’ve had issues with my tailgate starting to rub on the bumper protector (black plastic one with ridges). I bought the van earlier this year and the gap had always been fairly small, between the protector and the tailgate and I noticed rubbing. The protector had begun to lift up, so I used hot water, hair dryer etc to soften the adhesive but still managed to lift some paint off (profanities inserted here)! It was a bodge job and clearly come off before and stuck back down with reinforced double sided tape without the old double foam adhesive being removed before hand. I noticed that the bumper wasn’t clipped properly in the centre clip, which it is now, although the gap looks still like it’s tight in places (see pic, still removing adhesive so ignore that). The van has been converted and has ehu underneath the bumper (bought van already converted), which may explain the odd fitment, or it’s had a car park love tap at some point. I believe the tailgate is sat fine, panel gaps elsewhere look great and I’d rather not adjust this, if possible. So do I go for another bumper protector, like Leighton vans ones or are they too thick for this gap? Try a film-type sticker (mentioned in this thread), but I’m worried you’ll be able to see the paint gap through it or get the bumper resprayed and not put a protector on at all (which sounds not ideal). I might try wedging some rubber underneath where the bumper meets the van (also previously in the thread). Anyway, any advice would be greatly received!
