buying conversion or already converted?

Hey folks!

I'm after a T6 camper, with the standard conversion kit. May also consider T5, if the price and spec is right!
We're not after anything too fancy or modern.

Hoping to spend no more than 35k (which seems a challenge looking at the value of some)
rough spec:
T6 2015-2018?
mileage - 25-75k
Either SWB/LWB (preferably LWB)
poptop
4 berth

But I'm having difficulty deciding on whether buying a conversion or already converted T6 van?

Interested in knowing:
- folks experiences with the conversion route.
- With the current market value of T6s - which is more affordable?

I'm seeing online that the conversion itself costs around 13-15k

Hi,

I will always advocate buying a van and then having it converted as you can have input to the build and can choose the correct company, however this will likely be more expensive than finding one 2nd hand already converted.

£13 - £15k depending on specification, for a full conversion will be at the lower end now unfortunately due to rising costs of materials, however we would always work with our customers to accommodate their budget. Never go for the cheapest and if you can visit a company and see their work all the better. Find an established company for piece of mind as they will likely be here for many years and will honour warranties etc.

I was in exact same position mate with exact same spec as you. Ended up with 68plate t6, 73k, new conversion (which was preferred, plus my wife’s a snob and didn’t like the idea of a used bed haha) with 12month build quality for £35k.
One will show up soon

We couldn’t find what we wanted, so converted our own.
The downside of trying to buy a van + conversion now is the lead times of the decent converters.

Are you able to do a lot of the conversion to Your spec yourself it' ll only take a few weekends and evenings .. you need to decide what you want LWB or SWB and what are you going to be doing with your van. to build your spec

A standard conversion is there one ? The van comes with the dreaded VAT of everything on top cutting your spend to budget. People want some of them charges back.

Pop top @ £ around 3 - 5000 ish style of bed. + a mattress up top.. side glass, then labor costs on top to have it already fitted buying with it already fitted i will be part of your van price so aging your purchase to an older with higher mileage van

this looks like a nice van and the wheels have been upgraded air con cruis control and a rear heater already fitted

2013 £ 21,000 SWB 40.000 miles with VAT £25.200 would leave you £10,000 to spend on it well spend 6 - 7 and you got some for any hidden surprises covered

for a newer van check out Bognor Motors but a lot of the work already done

It's a 2016 t6 t28 trend line in candy white. It's fully carpet lined, insulated and sound deadened. Got momo revenge matt black alloys with 4 good tyres, fronts being a week old. Windows all round and on barn doors. The rear quarters are fake though. Also got the original wheels with good tyres. I'm also throwing in a front bumper splitter and barn door spoiler but they're off van ready for painting. I've also got golf gtd seats, pax swivel base and retrofit arm rests but not in van but Inc in sale. Mot until March, new timing belt about 1k miles ago, maybe less, it'll be serviced as well so fsh. Runs great with no issues at all. Body is great apart from a couple of small age related marks. Only selling as ordered a new van. I'm looking for £20k ono with no vat payable.

Hi all, just joined and first time typing on here. We are buying a T6 LWB this weekend and very excited. The company that did the conversion is 'Appleyard Leisure' in Huddersfield. Looks like they may have stopped trading. Does anyone know of them? Cheers Allan
