But like most things you always hear the bad and not the good. Can't all be bad or they would have gone out of business by now. From the years of comments it looks like they’ve had a run of bad luck when it comes to recruitment then.

I've had screws through my loom in the past from a firm I used in Wales some years ago and it was a real pain to sort out and you make an interesting point we don't tend top own these vans for a great deal of time Im on my 3rd in 10 years all be it due to ULEZ where I live but also just wanting to upgrade so I see your point in not spending 5k plus for something you won't see any return on. I have used them 3 times in the past last time being late last year for a VW Caddy and that also had bits of swarf left in various places from not covering the vehicle properly which is annoying and can cause damage to the paintwork if left for to long. Would I use them again? I just don't know I've never had a problem with the product or the final finish but I am concerned about the recent / previous negatives comments perhaps they are getting sloppy and as you said being in a rural location just can't get the staff needed or retain them when they do. It's all about cost especially in these testing economical times.Have had no issue with the actual roof, which is made off site as is the frame. There was a crease in the canvass, and once siliconed could not be rectified, no apology for poor workmanship on that score or the screws through the loom. Also the van wasn't covered during fitting there was swarf eating into the paintwork. They said they usually washed down after, but not on my visit! But it's their business at the end of the day, and in a cut throat market. I did feel that the owner and the main fitter weren't quite as they say singing from the the same song book. As there were times of unavailability etc. The location is very rural and probably 1 hour driving and 40 miles every day for minimum wage and a bit.
I have no personal issues, just disappointed after spending some £2600. The pain is the travel, accommodation all the time. There are clearly more successful companies, but I failed to see how some can double that price to £5000 plus, for basically they same product. I am sure that I will get lamb basted for that. Would I use them again? How does one decide? But in the end, most owners have these vans for the short term not the longevity. Motorhome owners keep their vans a lot longer, and maybe because they are paying huge amounts more.
Incidentally, have you seen the rejection that many towns, are getting a wee fed up with the MoHo owners taking over whole parking spaces, reserved for locals. I think the transporter owners are somehow more considerate, as that you cannot actually live in them, like a Moho. Therefore are more traveller than stay 3 -4 days plus.
Maybe there is an opening for a national survey?
When was this carnage carried out? was it just a totally shite job? did you only have the roof done or was there other work done?Just going to jump back on this thread and add that I am not too impressed by my C&H pop top. I've always said you get what you pay for with regards to this company but I also have a squeak (as mentioned above by another member). I lifted the bed yesterday whilst I was working in the van and the bed just came away in my hands, straight off the rear bulkhead where the hinges are.
The silicone skills are matched by that of a 5 year old.
Squeaks more than a teenagers bed when his girlfriend stays over.
Do you get a pop top for not much money? Yes
Does it do the job? Mostly
Would I use them again? Would I f............
I’ve just got a silicon blob and a couple of marks off mine with turps. Make sure you try a dab on somewhere that’s hidden.Re the squeaky roof. Had to take back again, an hour later, £60 labour plus 2 nights overnight accommodation. Did they cure it, no, now have loads of self tapper all over. So am going to strip back, stika silcone and pop rivet. The silicone stain at the front is still there. Caused by dropping the canvass when the silicone hadn't time to cure.
Around 10 months ago or so. It wasn't a REALLY shite job on initial inspection, certainly saw a few things I weren't happy with and my usual converter go to place agreed it was sub-standard workmanship. When was this carnage carried out? was it just a totally shite job? did you only have the roof done or was there other work done?
I've seen you build it looks good I think you did a great job. It sounds like they did an ok job of the roof sub standard is probably a bit harsh but I totally understand it's probably not top notch but I've seen a hell of a lot worse. I'll update my build thread and show you how mine looks I've been unable to work on mine for a while due to my dodgy back. Mine is a ex RAC but I had it painted I just couldn't live with the Tango look.Around 10 months ago or so. I had the roof done and also they added in 6 spotlights and carpeted the bulkhead/roof surround
