camper conversion - essential fitments

It's not just the VW badge, it's anything to do with 'Leisure'.

If you can find the same thing from a different trade you are most likely to find that it's cheaper.

I steer clear of anything with “bug” or “Dubs” in the title, generally the same stuff you can buy anywhere but with price tripled.

Yep noticed that.have seen some great ideas on youtube ,watched a guy strip down a Chinese diesel heater that he had been using that thing was so well made.wouldnt be scared to buy one now.

I’d like to think Autocraft would have adapted their mould by now, otherwise their range will be severely limited if the T6.1 underbody is the same as the T6 Eu6.
It's not their mould, the tanks are the ones that Autosleepers used and I believe made by Amber Plastics.

Really like idea of underslung water tank would save room in van, like look of the smev hob/sink insert.
I have an underslung one but with hindsight would prefer a small onboard one. When you want to empty the tank you need to grovel a long way under the van to empty it. And you need to sterilise the tank with Milton fluid too. I end up just using a small container in the van that I can fill with fresh water in the kitchen just before I go away. And you need to drain down the onboard one in winter in case it freezes too, so all in all, not my preferred option.

Budget is everything. You can easily spend thousands on suspension and wheels plus the usual trinkets to replace parts that currently work fine. Or spend that money on your conversion. Off grid means solar and good batteries so spend on that first plus your conversion.

Yes well I am coming to the Volkswagen thing without knowing all about mods that people think are essential ,only thing I know I would like is colour coordinated bumpers but even that's not a must have.
