Camper conversion - reuse ply panels?

Hello,

I am converting my t6 panel van into a camper. I’ve removed and kept the wall and floor ply, which is in good condition. My question or query is regarding reusing it to cover the now insulated and sound proofed surface. This is my first inversion and I would like to ask if it’s ok to reuse the ply ? Thank you in advance

I reused as much as I could on my conversion. I carpeted the OEM hardboard panels where I could, and made various bits out of the spare headlining board.

I would definitely reuse it, and save yourself the time and cost. The only downside could be weight, if the wall panels are say 12mm.

What thickness is the ply? 3.6mm at a guess, I think most converters go for 6mm but could be wrong. @AJCConversions will be better to advise as they are actually conversion specialists in North West so not too far from yourself
Hi, and thanks for your response Chris. Got the steel rule out and the wall ply is 6mm and the floor ply is 8mm.

I used the hardboard panels as templates for 3.6mm ply and carpeted that. It’s been fine for 3 years. I tried to keep weight to a minimum, hence also using 9mm for the floor instead of 12mm.
I will add though that you need a fine tooth jigsaw blade for the 3.6mm ply or you’ll just explode the edges.

It might be worth sealing both sides of the hardboard panels to avoid them absorbing moisture, it’s quick to do and costs peanuts
