Camping Trailers - Let's see em ;)

Looks solid
Yeh.... Solid.

But weve not weighed it yet...

Unbreaked, so 750kg max. Total & loaded.

I wonder what the trailer will weigh allone. .... Im sure more than a ALU trailer.... But as you say SOLID....lol.

Basically shared project with me pops, for us to build and share.

Dad had a 5’x3’ trailer made years ago by a company in Oakham. It was basically box section in a T shape for the axle (with plates welded on to take the indispension units) and tow hitch. Everything else was angle iron.

Might be a bit big... :D

But I want to be able to take a pretty big inflatable boat and a large outboard.

I need to go and look at some at some point...

We have a 3.8m SIB & 20hp Suzuki OB in ours, plus all the associated gubbins. The boat is an Excel Volaire, so not the most compact or lightweight beast.

Not to put a damper on everyone's spirits but didn't some regulations come into effect. To the result that all trailers had to be manufactured by an authorised manufacturer with weight plate and serial number on. Hence the increase in Erde trailers by Halfords, and a couple of German manufacturers. Other than is it Twyford Williams or similar name in the UK, also there used to be Indespension of Bolton, but I don't think they sell the chassis any more due to these new regs.
I can't see 'old bill' that interested unless involves a serious RTA.
I'll have a look and see if can get a confirmation.
UK Government sites, indicate type approval re self-build. Over 20 years, 3500kg etc. Best to have a read, before building.

That is interesting - Honwave T38 and Suzuki 20 for me so a similar setup. What model trailer do you have?

Afaik the rules only apply to new trailers & aren’t retrospective. So who’s to say when a home built trailer was er umm “built”
