Can I upgrade my basic HU to one with Sat Nav

Just got my T6 - but there's no satnav on the head unit.

Device Part # 1K8035150E

I've no idea what it is even..

Anyway - I've tried hooking up an android phone via USB (theres a usb socket mounted in the dash) to see if it can screen mirror - but that didn't work.

So - what are my options ?

New head unit ?
Software Update ?
Are there any purchasable options (saw a post about app-connect for example)

As there's a fairly large scratch on the head unit - I'd probably be ok with getting a new head unit if thats whats needed - any recommendations ?

Hiya

The headunit you have is the most basic available I'm afraid, so it will not support any type off mirroring/satnav app etc or even a update

2 options, firstly replace with a aftermarket to give better sound, features etc, or purchase from VW a uprated unit,

Do not purchase a second hand T6 radio as they are vin locked to the original vehicle.

We can supply a aftermarket unit with all the correct parts to retain the dash USB, dab aerial, MFSw features

Drop us a pm for further details

I had VW sat nav in my last van.
In my current van I've gone back to using Waze on my phone.

I can recommend a Garmin satnav and Garmin BC30 WIFI camera, less cables to pull and a good image.

Thanks for that the only problem is its over three hours from me i need something in the midlands
Give them a ring, they will talk through the options with you and if you don’t want them to instal they will post you the unit together with a loom to connect it, plug and play, so everything works such as parking sensors.......

Good luck.

No disrespect, but every OEM sat nav that I’ve ever used has always been far inferior than either a mobile phone or a dedicated unit. And costs the earth to update the maps too.
VW maps are free for life as are most new satnavs these days. You’re right about them being inferior though, I’d have a TomTom over the VW any day.

Thanks for that I'll do that cheers

or get a good TomTom..free lifetime maps, free lifetime traffic and lifetime speed camaera warnings (where legal)...for a fraction of the price of a new head unit.
