Car park ding - f@@@ing fuming :(

I hate this !!!!.

I want to say I'd be fuming IF this happened to my van, but the reality is, I should be saying, I'll be fuming WHEN this happens to my van.

I've been driving/parking cars for over 30 years, and I have NEVER damaged another vehicle whilst doing so.

I really feel your pain mate.
So now what ?.
Dent pulled out and side of the van repainted so its blends in with the repair ?.
Thats effing brilliant that is, and whos gonna pay for that then. ( not the Wayne Kerr that did it thats for sure ! ).

Its my number one hate, and its only a matter of rime till it happens to us all.

i'd be annoyed about the ding, but its aways going to happen, I've had it happen to all my new cars.

Its just a car/van, but still bloomin annoying, those people will always be out there regards of where you park, someone ran a trolley into the corner of my front end in the first two weeks at Bunnings.

No point fixing it as its not that visible, and i know as soon as i do that, something else will get damaged

This may annoy some of you, but i can't say i'm not a fan of people using two parks as well, you will find that someone is more like to damage your car than using a single car park, if the parking is limited

There is a place in hell for people that damage and dent cars without taking reasonability, but taking up two parks for selfish reasons are not far away.
@Bryn23 .....agreed. That's why I've never done it.....somebody might need a space and if I'd taken 2 I'd feel like a sh*t. Whenever I see it I just think it's a selfish thing to do.....it's a shame people feel the need to do it. Parking causes all sorts of agro wherever you are. Who knows, driverless vehicles and self parking systems might save a lot of grief. Why people can't park properly is one of life's mysteries. It is only a matter of time before mine gets dinged.....my wife's new mini picked one up in a hospital car park within weeks of taking delivery. Tell you a little story.......slight thread drift but here goes: Mate of mine drives to the coast and enters a packed car park. There is one space available but it's a disabled parking space. My mate, a lovely mild mannered guy notices a blue badge holder parked in a "normal" parking space. No problem he thinks......so he asks the disabled guy if he wouldn't mind doing a swap.....a reasonable request I would've thought? Disabled guy tells my mate "tough, I like the view from here".....my mate is speechless and walks off shaking his head, lost for words! Parking is a contentious issue and I wish people would just be a little more considerate and careful.....but sadly, I'm never through being disappointed about standards of behaviour these days. It's not difficult. Apologies ladies and gents....rant over!:(

Agree with all your comments, and I do park over two bays but only if the car park is pretty empty. Firstly i look at how full the car park is, then is there an end bay that's slightly larger (often happens when the lazy painters can't do maths) then if there is a nose to tail slot, because it's easier to remove a bumper to repair or replace then get a factory finish down the side. If I'm not happy I go somewhere else or go home. I've done that before.
Couple of examples of morons. I took the missus out for a meal during the week, there was a car park with nothing in it. When we got back there was one more car there, it was parked so close that I had to get in the passenger door.
Another occasion I was crawling around a car park looking for a slot and this old biddy in a battered old corsa came round a corner and run her bumper across the wrap round on the back of my car, I felt it push the car sideways a bit. I jumped out and by this time she had parked and was about to go shopping, and shouted you've just hit my car! She said I thought it was only the bumper and walked off.
What hope is there for anyone with anything decent when there are so many people who are jealous or don't give a damn.

If I need to park in a public area, I usually just take my antique Land Rover as most people try to park as far away from it as possible as it has that 'just dragged out of a swamp' patina! As it's narrow, it gets into spaces that most modern vehicles couldn't.........and this includes ones where people have purposely straddled two. In busy car parks, I consider it a challenge to get my Landy into the remains of one of those spaces so that those with wider cars have larger spaces to get into. I also know that the person who took up two spaces will not be wanting to damage their vehicle when driving out of the space so it's a double win.

T6s take up too much space in normal car parks so it's not worth taking the risk. You know it's just a matter of time for a ding or scratch, so park away from the morons and walk or cycle the rest.

Good point but its bit like security and theft.
I have a Shuttle because I need one for a family. Should I have to put my van in storage and pay a child minder so I don’t have to park it ? Obviously not I have to use it or sell it. I shouldn’t have to put up with moron parking vandalism and theft. THW not starting an argument with you @Mooncat just ranting at life.

You wouldn't find me parked next to you in a car park that has plenty of spaces, I'd be in a similar place out of the way. It's busy car parks where I exploit the size of the Landy so that those with larger vehicles actually have a chance.

I've had it when I've parked out of the way only for someone to then park right next to me and I do have a theory on this. They know you are looking after your vehicle so feel safe parking next to you as you won't damage their vehicle and very likely they have been very careful parking and opening the door next to you. You are now in a position where as long as that vehicle is next to you, yours is not going to get damaged and for them, at least one side of their vehicle will not get damaged either. It's like have a 'careful driver' area in the car park, and all the mouth breathers can just abandon theirs in the front rows.

Don't worry too much, that dent will pull or push out via paintless dent removal or pdr.
Just search for you're local pdr tech.

I'm Chipaway and not many of us do pdr, I used dent devils for any of my customers vehicles.

We all know the feeling when you park miles away in the car park only to find some twa# has parked next to you and the rest of the spaces are empty. Can never get my head round that
I can.....they want to wind us up! I was once in a Morrisons in Bradford.....old snatch runs her trolley into my g reg 1.4 ghia fiesta.....lovely little car. I told her to be careful and all she could say was "what's up with ya'....it's only a car!" We've all had 'em....and it's a fact of life. I constantly ask myself why I bother? For a period of about 10 years, I ran two cars simultaneously.....one would be used for hair raising trips to Bradford or Keighley....the other (BMW's) would be tucked up in a garage. One year I looked at my MOT cert and I'd done 1800 miles in it! That's when I thought, this has to stop 'cos it's ridiculous! People are becoming more and more resentful and selfish. It's a subject we could go around in circles over. :(

But it’s not just people in car parks, is it? My wife and I went to the far end of a deserted beach in Sardinia. Next family coming onto beach parked themselves so close we got shade from their sun shade!! Beach continued to fill, then this woman comes along and squeezes herself between us ffs. So after a swim I stood so she was in my shadow and dripped on her.....she moved. It ain’t just British tw*^* who don’t/can’t respect personal space for vans or beach towels

I've had similar happen to my car within weeks of owning it. Right on the crease on the passenger door. I thought it wouldn't come out but I was surprised when I found a local guy who fixed it. He was confident that it would come out, and had a list of ever-invasive options. He started with an adhesive pad and hammer-like tool to pull the dent out. I was so pleased when he fixed it.

If you are in the area, Andy's details are: At Home Paintless Dent Repair Specialist | Birmingham & Solihull

Very reasonable too, at £40.

Yes, unfortunately there are people who put themselves before others, and then expect respect when its the other way around.. He might have had problems, and indeed it might have been part of his problem (social interaction), but me, I'd have moved, and been polite about it.. But that's me, on the other hand I get bent out of shape when none holders park in holders bays , just to use the space for a few minutes..

Its a sad truth that you have to worry over your car in carparks, its not usually an accident, just who cares attitude.. They only care when it happens to them BTW!

Its a lack of respect for others basically.

This oxygen depleter has been getting a bashing on the tinterwebnet today. Most of the comments couldn't be published here.......the only positive comments were for the Volvo !

Managed to get it sorted today in between snow storms , Carl Chapman from Dent Medic in Derby came out to me at my home , used his glue on suckers to pull it back out , top job and one happy chappy

I avoid all car parks at every chance ..i make the wife take my extremely grubby looking transit doing super market shopping (they are the worst ) and when we get back there is nobody parked near it ...not that it matters .
If we do go in the T6 I stop in it on Dint watch ...and i can tell you, just sitting and watching people park up is a continual cringe .
