Caravelle Electric Seat Retrofit - Do I Just Need Fused 12V?

Hi, i've had a look and can't find a definitive answer on whether these will only function through the van's central electric system or not. Can I just connect the 12V and earth to the leisure battery via separate fuse and get the electric seat position functions to work properly? Or is it much more complicated than this? I've seen threads about full retrofitting, but I just want the movements buttons to work and i'm not bothered about the heated seats.
Thanks.

From my experience with other VAG electric seats the movement part is usually independent of the heating, however the test will be what colour wires etc are under your seats?

Not sure what colour wires you have in your connector. Can you post a pic.
I fit lots of VAG MQB seats into vans. And it is just a case of powering the seat with a fused live and an earth.
Pic is an Audi seat, red wire with black trace is power brown earth ( chassis ) 25amp cable with a 20amp fuse.
There’s constant power feed under the passenger seat, use that.

Power the red, earth the brown.
Just run a fused live from battery to test. And brown to chassis

The brown should already be earthed as it was in the old plug also I am guessing. But I think you mean whilst the plug is out. Put a live to the red and earth the brown to test. Will try that this afternoon and get back to you. Thanks

Yes brown will be earthed anyway. I don’t often come across any original wiring.

Hi.

Thanks for the help. That worked. Put a live from a spare battery to it and the functions worked perfectly.

Just need to hard wire it now. Appreciate all the help.

Thanks again

No problem fella, glad I was able to help. I retro fit car seats into vans all the time with my own designed adaptor kit. So it’s a common question.
