Caravelle - wheels to suit the -20mm drop

Hi guys.

Hoping for some friendly advice on what rim size and tyres would be suitable for my 2016 exec caravelle 204hp. Looking to purchase a snow medium range tyre and rim package.
The tyres on the motor at the moment aren’t a standard size so struggling to know what I should be using.
Called a few places but they only have transporter categories and basically couldnt help.
Thanks in advance

There’s a sticker in the door jamb with OEM sizes on it. If you’re looking for non-OEM then, being a heavy van, you’ll probably be limited to a T32 load rating. See this thread.
I can’t say I know of a winter package that’s sold together - most people go for Amarok 18” steel wheels and a tyre of their choice.
Oh and welcome to the forum

Can you post a photo of what you have now, showing the tyre size/rating details on the side of the tyre.

Pete

The Caravelle is a T30. So anything rated for a T30 Transporter will work.

Thanks for your replys.

At the moment I have 265/40 R20 on it, which a company has told me is an odd size for winter tires, and couldn't find a supplier that would have this size. Therefore I've opted for the rim and tyre combo and will swap them out.

I've attached a photo of my plate. Am I right in thinking that I can run this on 17s at 215/60 or 235/55 or 18s on 255/45?

Yes, those are standard sizes.
If you can show us the current wheels then you’ll probably find someone who’s able to advise on a winter tyre to suit them, if you were initially just wanting winter tyres… but it’ll probably work out cheaper and easier to run two sets of wheels. There are some winter wheel packages for sale on the forum.

If you want to stick with your 20” wheels I think you will need to go for a 255 45 20 tyre plenty of road rates tyres in that size.

Defo want a second set now. Do I need to be considering the t30/t32 element for load rating or is this all considered in the standard tyre sizes I listed?
In the days of my Audi it was so much easier to get this sorted!

The sizes listed have top load-rated sizes in them, but you may not need to go that high.
To be sure, check your rating plate:
There will be a black sticker with white writing on it stuck around the bulkhead within the engine compartment, probably on the drivers’ side.
Of the last two numbers, one marked 1. and the other marked 2. indicate the axle weights for front and rear.
Take the highest value one and halve it. That’ll tell you what your wheel ratings need to be in KG’s.
See this post once you’ve got your figures:

Went for amarok steels 18s with some Falken winter tyres. load rated to T32.

My existing wheels are going to go, I'm not confident they should even be on it

Is anyone running LV-1 staggered alloys on a Caravelle, If so, do you have any issues with the door cards rubbing on the tyres? I hadn’t realised this could be an issue until I searched the forum earlier!

I have the wheels, but I’m yet to put any rubber on and it will be lowered next week at CRS.

Thanks in advance

As an update, LV do not recommend their staggered wheels on a Caravelle and you need the 8.5 all round to avoid the rears rubbing on the door card. They have updated their website with a note to reflect this.

A massive shoutout to Paige at LV who has been brilliant throughout my saga and arranged to get the wheels swapped out. First class customer service!

Hi all,

Looking to get new wheels for Caravelle. I was looking at 8.5J all round, but seen Inovit wheels in person and i noticed that there is no concave on rear wheel and it looks bland.

How wide and what offset i could get away with on the rear?

What size tyres should i run?

Help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi guys,

Picking up my 2018 T6 Caravelle next week! Its an executive version so apparently factory lowered by 20mm?

Can anyone recommend some wheel/tyre combos. Either 19" or 20" would be great.

cheers
