Checked mine properly earlier today as they were actually frosted up for the first time this year. Worked perfectly and, indeed, were quite warm to touch after only about 20 seconds. I think I owe VW an apology for my earlier reference to the heated mirrors being a bit rubbish - it always helps if you use the correct switch. This time, I used the one on the door arm rest rather than turning the heated screen on and expecting the mirrors to heat at the same time (as actually happens on the other cars that I own!!).
