Carpet lining with a pop top in mind

I’m in the process of converting my T6.1 panel van. I want to carpet line the van sides so I can crack on with the floor, also we will still be going away in the van so want it lined out.

If I carpet line and add a pop top in the future will this be a problem? Or will I have a huge join that can be seen?

you will need to join the lining if you fit a elevating roof in the future as the ceiling panel fixings will punch through and hole the lining. If you line and leave the top with 300mm rolled down (depending on roof type) you can finish off afterwards. Or if fitting old Reimo style roof the side strength panels can be lined when fitted to save you trying to join in.

Thanks Ian! So If line now and leave 30cm excess on the top, I should be good in the future. I guess the excess will be hidden behind the ceiling so sounds like a good plan. I’m planning on getting a Skyline Aurora, do most roofs just require 30cm?

I left about 30 inches so it went right up and over to the edge of the poptop, rolled it up and zip tied whilst I waited the 4 months for the roof to be done.

lave as much as you can, 50cm or so will do , if it behined the ceiling you cant use fixings for ceing around the edge as it will put holes in the lining
