Charging a power station from my leisure battery 12V supply

Sorry my bad, I was basing that on mine which is an older one and doesn’t have a lithium profile
Must remember to RTFM !

In fact this has triggered my memory, i had a D250S that went faulty and got swapped under warranty and the replacement was a 250SE so mine does have a lithium profile but i got an instruction manual for the original one and didnt know (until now !)

I really appreciate your input Dellmassive!!

All ordered!

Hopefully easy to fit - The only thing that I am not totally clear on is changing the profile on the CTEK - I think it is as simple as connecting the black cable to a permanent 12v - Would that be best going straight to the leisure battery terminal?

yes just move the BLACK battery select cable from:

0v Ground - AGM

to

+12v - Lifepo4 ( any 12v will work )

i think @Pauly had the manual upside down for a min . . . . :mexican wave:

.

The supplier that I went to didn't have the poweroad in stock, and suggested this alternative -

It appears to be the same battery, but with bluetooth as far as I can make out.
the spec looks good.

its a bit down on total cycle life but still good. ( prismatic cells etc )

it doesnt mention the BT APP or BMS manufacturer . .

but looks fine. . . . whats the price compared to the Renogy etc ?

.

Basically £550

I really wanted a battery with similar dimensions and battery terminals so I could do an easy straight swap of the old battery and there are not the many options!

I'll post about the battery and app when it arrives and I have fitted it (hopefully arriving tomorrow!!)

Battery arrived today.

I had to call DC power to find out which app I needed for the bluetooth. It is called Smart BMS

That looks the same as the Sterling..... ?

Wonder if sterling are using those battery?

Or am I thinking wrong.

Fitted battery and victron last night. All good apart from noticing that the installer hasn't attached the red wire on the d250se to the ignition!

Als, not getting a decent voltage on the panel today seemed fine last night...

It looks like when it gets hot, the panel stops working correctly. Fine first thing in the morning....

Any thoughts on if it needs replacing?

It looks like the panel is soldered in the area near the pop top

So I should be able to isolate it if needed.

How easy is it to swap the panel? I'm a bit nervous about doing it if there are any fitters in the Newmarket area, then let me know.

Also, what is the current best panel to replace it with?

That is awesome data and a brilliant 1days plot of solar activity....

It does look like the panel power drops off.

But to be sure.... Leave the red trace as solar voltage but change the blue trace to the current.

And do another plot...

If the voltage and current drop very low when the panel gets hot... (And the battery isnt full... So you have space for the solar to put charge into the battery) then that is a sign of a failing panel.

It's normally cracked busbars or failed internal solder joints.

.
To full test it get a second panel, borrow one,

Or get a mobile panel,

Connect in in place of your roof one.

And retest.

There are various guide on here and on YouTube about removing an old stuck on panel.

It normally revolves around using a string or cotton line to saw through the adhesive behind the panel.

Then wd40 or gum remover to get the rest off.

It's advised to fit a piece on vinyl wrap to the roof.....then stick the panel to that.... Makes it easier to remove later.

There are a few makes.... To choose from.

I've used .

Renogy
Lensun.
Photonic universe

That's kinda confirmed.

You can see the current drops to 0, and the voltage drops down.

It looks like that panel is 99% faulty.

Not sure if it will work..... But you could try getting the water hose on the panel during the day.... Spray water over the panel and van roof to drop it's temp with code water. . . You might see the power come back briefly.

But gotta say it looks like it's a knackered panel.

How did you do the 1day plot?

Just left a phone or tablet connected and running all day?

I've done that for about 5hours before... But never gone for the full day.

We're all waiting for Victron to add in data logging onboard with there units....... I'm sure it must be possible.

Come on Victron pull your finger out.

I have the same version....

But am away and remote from any devices.... I can only see them via VRM.

I'll check mine when I'm back....

How far back can you go?
