Coat stuck in Sliding door mechanism

Currently in portugal for a few weeks travelling in a t6.1 I’ve managed to get my coat stuck in the sliding door mech when closing think there is a bit of material still left in the mech at the front now unable to open from inside or outside any suggestions on how to release it
Wouldn’t normally be bothered and would wait to sort till I got back to the uk but got our bulldog with us and not the easiest dog to get in the back over the seats

mine was a conversion and should have had a plastic grommet as per pic 1 which you pop out and pull which opens the door because this wasn’t there and no wire to pull present I had to take the panel of and with a long screwdriver pushed the area shown in red on pic 2 to open the door this is at the rear of the door

Hello this part you have pictured, the cable in the picture is just dangling. What is it meant to be attached too? I assume this is why my handle is floppy

I had the same problem today! I was at a shopping centre and put some bags into the van. Unfortunately my jacket somehow got caught between the van and the door and got trapped

I could not open the door from either the inside or outside so had to drive home with the jacket stuck

Your advice was spot on and after removal of the panel managed to release the door
