Confused

Certainly it looks deliberate the edge looks well defined. Is that bare metal within the disc? If that is the case is their a tool the could replicate this some sort of grinder or rotary tool perhaps? As for why? Somebody into vandalism of some sort perhaps.

It does look "man made", but what and why? It's a major head scratcher.

I agree my head feels quite itchy. If it is vandalism, is it likely to be random and opportunistic. Was the vehicle left unobserved, parked in a road for instance. Or was it spiteful, a vendetta, a pay back or someone who disproves of vans like some who hates or disapprove of 4x4 for instance?. I have never seen anything like this, has anyone else? Are their likely to be other victims? Is it likely to be a new trend?

Seems like a very precise way to vandalise something, in a very obscure area. The paint defect sounds like a more plausible solution. A drip of oil on the panel somehow before painting? I was thinking it might be an inclusion which then creates a blister, or a stone chip (right area for that), but then I would have expected rust.

Thing is, the mark looks a perfectly formed circle with well a defined edge. A drip of oil or some other form of contamination would not look like that. Drips splashes and so on, are irregular and the damage appears uniform within its borders. Even if we tried to remove vehicle paint deliberately by chemical action is tends not to come off in that sort of way it would need abrasion of some sort regardless. The edges of the mark appear very well defined even hard possibly.

They have no idea . Just said could be a paint defect. The chap said the corrosion warranty is very hard to get. As at this age it would have to be rotting inside out.

Aye, it's a corrosion warranty for the initial 3 years, then anti-perforstion up to 12.
