Thank you Ozi, great advice. I’m happy to travel if it means getting the right campervan. Any experience/knowledge of Cambridge Conversions as a company? I’m planning to visit them on the weekend to look at their used stock as well as to discuss possible new conversions. Cheers.Welcome and enjoy the experience!!!
I’ll start by saying don’t constrain your search to location. There is a wide range of styles and quality out there, so take some time to look around to find what really works for you.
You may well find that the best match for the style and quality you want and crucially the budget you have to work with, means you may need to travel much further to find the ideal combination. I’m in Herts too, but ended up using a converter in Devon!
So take some time too look at options, how they compare (or don’t) and you’ll be able to make a much more informed decision. Given the inflated costs of base vehicles now and rising costs of everything, that’s more important now than ever.
And lastly, don’t be put off by long lead times to schedule in the work you want. Good converters will usually have a lengthy lead time and will be well worth the wait.
Thank you Ozi, great advice and I don’t mind travelling to find a quality company.

Not personally Idris, but a few on here have. I know that @Spaghetti certainly has some experience with them, but as Dave suggest, if you use the search function, there’s a wealth of info on the forum and lots of people happy to share their knowledgeThank you Ozi, great advice and I don’t mind travelling to find a quality company.

Are the Conversion Companies the best places to source used converted campervans or are there more specialised companies/sites such as Platinum Wave Campervans that would be better?Thank you Dave, that’s a very useful link.
Sounds like I need to visit a few conversion companies as well as retailers first @Ozi to get an idea of what’s out there and at what cost too. I’ll also check out the section on here for members selling Campervans. Some converters can/will source vans, and some don’t. Beyond dealers and private sellers, there are a a few dealers who specialise in conversion ready vans as well - I.e. base vans with an ideal or more conventional conversion spec (things like twin seats, no bulkhead, tailgates)
But a conversion is a very personal thing, so what you want from the van should drive what you look for. Some people for example don’t want a tailgate, which opens up options, purely because the bulk of vans are made with twin rear doors. Similarly the default build unless specified otherwise, would normally be a bench passenger seat, so you find far more of these around.
In any event, it’s worth looking around at options and what is important to you. Some things can easily be retrofitted, others less so. Keep your options open to see what works best for you.

TBH, that sounds pretty run of the mill to me. It’s the stuff that a bespoke converter makes “in house” that makes a difference. And they are few & far between.…. Heater, audio, 240v, sound deadening, headlining etc. Thanks
Yes exactly. I am looking for basics done with an edge and quality. Bespoke furniture I don't need need got that covered for my needs so stuff not fixed... But need an eye for design that just a fit out...TBH, that sounds pretty run of the mill to me. It’s the stuff that a bespoke converter makes “in house” that makes a difference. A conversion is a very personal thing. There are literally hundreds of converters out there, ranging from well established reputable firms, to Fred in a shed chancers. Some people will be happy with their conversion/converter, where others wouldn't touch the same converter with a barge pole. There's plenty of discussion/advice on the forum & a search will prove fruitful. Ultimately, it has to be you that makes the final choice, it's your money & you have to live with the result. Choose carefully Padawan.Hi all,
