I'm sure its not just me that suffers from this, but how do all of you guys cope with the stress and anxiety of potential damage caused by the brain dead, " its only a van mate " brigade as they fling their car door against the side of you pride and joy because you cant find an end spot or cheeky singe spot somewhere.

I get really stressed when it comes to parking as soooo many people just don't give a t0ss about other peoples vehicle's.

Any tips you guys might have to help me deal with this would be greatly received !!.

Cheers/

I got my first car park dent today. Its too small to capture in a photo but is a small dent on the front wing. I'm so annoyed and now every time I walk to the van it screams at me like its a part of Blackpool illuminations. Must have been a 4x4 or another van that caused it as its to high on the wing for it to be a car door.
Its a brand new van and highly polished so its obvious its not just a beaten up builders van.
I'm now definitely going to fit running boards as this will stop any dings along the middle area but for now, its a trip to dent master.

Humans are sooooooo annoying.

The best tip is dont go to shopping centres/supermarkets and if you do theres a one in one out rule ie she goes in the shop i stay in the van.
If anyone enters an adjacent space i get out for a smoke and lean against my van whilst giving them the look, you know the dirty harry make my day kinda thing

haha we do the same... (except the smoking bit:)

Got nothing to do with the Magnum you're holding; and I don't mean the choc-ice on a stick.
Actually anyone that causes car park dents deserves to have a slug straight between the eyes.

I went to Aldi the other day in a small town called leominster. @Fish will know it. It's full off coffin dodging dead people. The type of area that smells of burnt clutch and filled with Honda jazz' and CRV's. The occasional bluerinse propped up by a shopping trolley full or worthers original wrappers.
I had to drive back out the car park as whilst sat there I witnessed one bumper nudge and 2 close calls. I've now made it a rule to never ever park there.

Supermarkets, shopping centres.....I'm just as paranoid on site, the contractors car parks are never big enough, you always get the £500 berlingos wedging into a space small enough for a motorcycle  ......... I always give myself plenty of room one side then leave the opposite door open and sit there putting my boots on until the next van pulls up alongside me, close the door, plenty of room ;) ......until that person goes out for lunch and something bigger pulls into his space

The thing is, I work on many sites and I, like you said, can have some sort of influence, ( of sorts ), on how I park and who else parks near me, BUT, this is just for my 15 plate Vivaro Sportive. ( which I also really look after and cherish ).

What I struggle to control, ( and hence the stress ), is when I,m out and and about in the my new T6 kombi doing family stuff. Going away to various destinations its inevitable that will eventually have to park somewhere tight !.

Look on the bright side when you park on the opposite end of the supermarket car park, there's the health benefits of the additional steps you can take to get to the door (even while have a cheeky smoke).

I'm up to 3 dings now, it's the Chelsea tractors in the local Waitrose Car Park that's the culprit, little Tarquin seems to think a van is a door stop. My lad just bought his first car to learn in and so I now invite him to go out for a drive that includes chauffeuring me to any shop I choose.

Whenever I go to supermarkets (which is very rare) I always park as far away from the entrance as possible, I do the same at motorway services (which unfortunately is frequent) in the area where there is always plenty of empty spaces. I also choose a space on the end. When I leave the van, there is not another vehicle within 50 yards of mine but EVERY time I return someone has parked next to me ????? there can be 20 empty spaces around us but they ALWAYS park next to me???

I really struggle to understand why. This happens whether I'm in the van or any of the other vehicles we use.

Again, Humans are soooo annoying.

My wifes car is an Insignia Estate and was less than three years old when we got it and pristine !!.
It now has some sort of mark on pretty much every panel. I can really get onto her about where she parks it as she is a busy mum and doesn't have the time to ponce about looking for the, " perfect parking place ". When we are in it as a family I make the kids get out before I park between other cars.

People will hate me for this but sometimes I intentionally park badly almost in 2 spaces. Sometimes when im feeling really cheeky I full on straddle both spaces!

Why is this ???.

Even when parking in a grass field at Thomas Land many years ago where you can have all the space you want, the next car pulled up so close that they couldn't open their rear doors without hitting my car !!.

Sheep !!.

Even with the two bay technique you still manage to trade paint in a car park.

To most people it will look very bad and selfish, but to me, it indicates that you'd rather people think you're a selfish git than have to pay £350+vat to get the side of the van repainted. !!.
