CTEK Dual 250SA

Actually I am quite annoyed at CTEK. They have just released this updated version of the DS250 and I was expecting it to be FULLY updated but it still requires an ignition connection which is pants! It looks to me like they have taken an easy option and not given much thought to the fitting of the unit.
Frustrating, but presumably the feed to the VW VSR could be used to trigger this?

I probably wouldn't use that as we don't know whether it switches on and off according to ECU info. I am currently supplying the wiring kit with a piggy back fuse connector to go in the fuse box.

Yes, that simple and I also supply a ready made wiring loom for the T6.

I've got an Ring RSCDC30 - on order - that will go under the passenger seat (fitted with a swivel) and the (still to be sourced) leisure battery will therefore need to go under the drivers seat.

Bearing in mind the Ring is going under the passenger seat, any advice/comment as to where I can get a 'good' 12v source to supply the RSCDC30? Or should I route a direct connection to the main starter battery?

@travelvolts I'd be interested in getting hold of an appropriate T6 wiring loom for this - do you have an online link?

TIA

I'm running a ring dc30, sits as described above, direct feed from starter battery, have been running a dometic cfx95dz2 off of leisure battery with no issues, but will be looking into solar as well to feed the ring unit in the near future..

3.5 metres red 6 mm cable, 1 metre white 6 mm cable, 0.5 metres brown 6 mm cable, 2 x 40 amp maxi fuses, battery connectors with rubber cover for positive terminal. All cables pre terminated with correct lugs and fitting sundries.

@T6 Dave Out of interest where did you take the +12v feed from for your Ring RSCDC30?

And, what leisure battery are you using?

TIA

I picked up the new D250SA today as my original D250S packed in (the MPPT side gave up but still under warranty so supplier let me upgrade and pay the difference)
I already have a relay on the starter battery supply for the original model, can this relay be removed now and connected directly to the battery input as the supplier seems to think i still need the relay to stop the charger being a parasitic drain while the engine is off, assuming i connect the red hair strand hanging out of it to an ignition supply i assume it will self isolate when the ignition is off without the need for an additional relay
@travelvolts can you confirm please ?

@travelvolts Any news on the new eLogic EL1230 with solar input?

Does anyone have a full spec for the eLogic EL1230 - dimensions + electrical characteristics? I can not find any details or references to this device anywhere.

It is quoted as being made in the UK? Who by? What warranty and support back up is there available for this unit?

Many thanks in advance.

D.

Thank you @travelvolts that was a quick reply!

I see there is a remote 'sense' connection to the vehicle start battery shown. Do you normally use this or take it to the main input feed from the battery?

It needs to be connected directly to the supply battery to give an accurate indication of its voltage. It is all supplied in the relevant wiring kit on my website.

@travelvolts Thank you! I already have a VSR fitted so looking at what extra is needed.

Sorry for another question: I see it says the unit is shipped preconfigured for optimum operation with any lead acid battery. Could you tell me what battery technology is assumed and the parameters for bulk voltage and and float voltage?

EDIT Its, OK. I see the data is under the LED charge states info. 14.1 bulk / 13.8 float. Guess safe defaults have been used to accommodate all lead acid technologies rather that push bulk to the full 14.4v for wet batteries.

I've finally decided to make a start at my leisure battery install. Where have you found is the most convenient place to take the ignition signal from? (T6 panel van, highlife, leisure battery and ctek located under drivers seat).
