Customising DSG gear lever selector & gaiter

Well, the obvious mistake was now annoying me. That'll learn me for pilfering the blue LEDs.
I had to do it all again. I took the blue LEDs off again with the reflow machine, but didn't have any red LEDs in the factory to replace them with. I didn't fancy pulling them off with an iron, after scrapping a very valuable OC768 card back in the day ham-fistedly trying to pull off SMDs with a Weller soldering iron......
I bough a strip of ultrabright red SMD LEDs from the 'Bay and put them on with the chisel sized Weller in my garage....
Slightly wonkey donkey, but it was by hand with solder and no paste.
That's better.....
All this effort, but calm is restored.....

Gents I am looking at changing the DSG gator but the VIP link to removing the DSG lever is dead, can you assist please?

Got the gaitor changed thanks to this thread!
But clearly the gaitor assembly is not intended to be taken to parts, this was at least close to the most annoying job I’ve touched.
I also changed the leds to red on the same go
… with a permanent marker
