Designing LWB Furniture

Pretty happy with how the designs are coming on. Been playing with handle shape and taken a few ideas from all your experiences.

Just wondering if small round holes for handles or a bigger open slot are better? What do you think?

I wouldn’t want handles for worry of damage being caused to the door from them being knocked off. Recessed handles or holes, if you’re not keen on push-pull door / drawer catches.
Don’t rule out accessing the wardrobe from the ‘gable end’ - the Cali we rented allowed access to that cupboard with the bed remaining down, and in retrospect (translate: if we’d done it to our build) it’s a better design for ease of use.

Is your cooker going above the double-door unit?

Looking good @Swiss78 !...like the recessed handles...one of our push button handles broke off from sliding the seat backwards...(It was SWMBO actually lol)..before we had even been out in the van!
Is that a large door at the base of the tall unit...maybe worth splitting that into smaller doors for ease of opening?;)

Smell 3222 should fit above fridge/double doors.

How are the doors secured?
So they are on both soft closed recessed hinges which are fairly solid when shut and as an extra im using magnetic push catches. The combo will be rock solid when driving but should operate nicely when parked up.

Personally I would move the drawers beside the fridge, so they can be accessed with chair slide slightly back. Then put a tambour on instead of doors on the cupboard.
That way you can access the cupboard with the chair forward and better access to the drawers.

That what I have done with my sliding seat. With kit in the back you have seat forward and it restricts access to opening doors

This looks great. I’m about to make my own furniture too so will be following this with interest. What tambour doors are you going with?

A bit of an update on progress, its all coming together and i have almost got it all fitted too. Works really well with the sliding seat and am not just 3D printing some magnetic catches to hold everything shut nicely.

Hi @Swiss78 the van looks like it's coming along nicely. I'd love to see some pics of it finished! I'm in the process of designing and building my own furniture along similar lines to yours. I'm having slim units though with a top-loading fridge towards the rear. How did you do your drawer and door catches in the end to stop them flying open? And how did you fix it all to the van?

Have you finished the Tambour doors yet and if so how have you fixed the rails to the furniture? I used a glue gun and they are starting to fail!!
